A lot of times in movies it's the mother that gets all the glory in taking care of children, and if the father is absent he's lazy/deadbeat/abusive. As a girl raised by a single dad, I like how it shows fathers can have just a big a role in parenting as mothers can

I don't see the importance of fatherhood. I always wondered what's the importance of fathers in a child's life. I can see why mothers are important. Women are socially and biologically programmed to be parents much more strongly than men are. Mothers are the ones that produce milk to feed to their babies. Also, mothers are the ones that are usually in charge of their babies, and they assume that role early on. Also, women have "maternal instinct", while men don't have anything like that. And also, children usually spend a lot more time with their mothers than they do with their fathers, and during that time, the mothers are usually taking care of the children. Mothers usually spend more time with the kids than fathers. Also, most animals in this world are only taken care by their mothers and they don't have their fathers around at all. So why are human fathers important? It seems that a child can grow up without a father, and still turn out ok.

All women don't have maternal instinct. Overall, some people aren't meant to be parents, but that doesn't deny the fact that fathers are just as important as mothers. Both mother and father figures are needed to raise children, and sometimes that doesn't happen. Not taking away from the amazing single parents out there; but even then, children have grandparents, aunt/uncles, mentors, etc who take the place of whichever parent is missing. We're humans and can't say that just bc animals do it then it's ok for us. Animals also eat their young and partners or abandon them if their sick. We as humans know better and those who do such things are punished. Honestly, I believe a lot of the reasons children are acting wild today is because of absent fathers in the home, especially in the black and brown community. It wasn't always the case but now it's become a culture norm to have multiple sex partners, not marry the mother of your child or support your child and ignore your responsibility. When in the past it was a rarity in our community. We weren't prudes, but we still took responsibility and maintained a family home. But due to welfare and encouragement of breaking up the family by outside sources looking to profit, it's now become the norm. (Please note, I'm not referring to family units that contain abuse or mistreatment and in which case such people should be separated and the preparators punished). It's different if you are prepared for a child and can handle it on your own, while having the time and support to take care of the child and yourself, but most of the time that's not the case. It's either teen pregnancy or deadbeat dads (or moms) running away from their responsibilities and leaving the other parent or family members to struggle on their own. Boys need strong father figures to learn from and look up to and if they don't have that in their home environment they'll look for it in others outside and unfortunately most of the time those they find aren't model citizens but other boys pretending to be men or bad men who use them for their own benefit. And it's the same for girls having strong mother figures. Also, it good for girls to have father figures who show them how a good man should treat them, not to be swayed by players just because they're told they're pretty, and to feel protected. They're also needed to show boys how to respect and love women, not to be players but gentlemen, and how to work and support themselves. And again, vice versa with mother figures. I myself was lucky to be raised by both my maternal and paternal grandparents so I had twice the mother and father figures I needed who taught me self-love, respect, and hard work. It takes a village to raise children and that means both mother AND father figures. But this is my opinion and experience, just suggesting a different perspective.

@@diamondcrumpton7456 I don't have any children. However, many people are raised by single moms, and they turn out perfectly ok. The bond between mothers and children are a lot stronger than the bond between fathers and children are. I heard that kids who are raised by lesbian couples tend to turn out much better than kids who are raised by heterosexual couples do.

Also, I heard that lesbian relationships are healthier because they understand each other. If both partners understand each other, they won’t want to break up with each other. I also heard that women have higher rates of depression when married (in straight relationships).

@smokexsmoke99 Again, small percentage against a larger one. There are more straight couples than lesbian couples, so of course people can say more women in straight relationships are depressed. But in truth it depends on the people themselves and like you said if they understand each other. Also, women may be able to understand other women issues, but just because we're the same gender doesn't mean we always understand each other in every way. There are plenty of women who hate and bully other women, same with men bullying men, men bullying women, or women bullying men. I don't know if you just have a problem with men in general, but a lot of your statements are pretty sexist and unfair. Every person is different. There are bad men and bad women out there, but there are also good ones. I'd rather give people a chance and see their actions before I judge them. There are many amazing fathers and husbands/boyfriends out there, just as there are wicked mothers and wives/girlfriends and vice versa. People are people, and each have the ability to be good or bad. It doesn't depend on gender but personality.

When Maddie took her first steps i cried Soo hard because my daughter has a condition and was told she wouldn't walk I always blamed myself and at age 4 my daughter took her first steps it brought back that memory for me loved this movie!

I liked the movie but you could tell when the child actors got switched back and forth and it threw me off cause the child went from being a baby to a toddler and then back to a baby so yeah but the movie was good and sad cause it's hard being a single parent so props to all you moms and dads holding it down.

Could not have enjoyed this movie more. Have always loved Kevin Hart as a comedian but now I realize how great he is as a dramatic actor. Also fabulous is the little girl who played his daughter. All this from an 83 year old white woman who hopes Mr Hart continues to keep us entertained.

I literally heard about this film and was unsure whether to watch this or not because the emotional impact it will leave you after the movie but after watching it the film had real humour brilliant acting and a representation of what life is like in the single parent lifestyle 👏 . Don't get me wrong i cried literally the whole film with 10-15 minutes of laughter, this is worth the watch and i recommend this film to anyone but be warned it is sad and emotional to begin with and some other parts in the film too, but also has some comedy in it which adds it up!!

Switching the infant to a toddler was offputting, n took away from the movie. The story was good, not great, but I enjoyed watching it. It was predictable too, kudos to Hart for stepping outside his comfortable comedy zone.

Good film but one silly thing that annoyed me was that he always had that Hollywood film star look in each scene. Hair and beard razor sharp and not a bit out of place. You're playing a dad at the end of your tether, you can skip the daily shaves and haircuts to make it look more real. Women's aren't suddenly going to go off you like. As I said, decent film though
