after saying she was obsessed with him though she didn’t have a whole lot of options but to explain. you could definitely tell and FEEL how nervous she was after saying it too. so i think absolutely certain is an overstatement but she definitely had to have some amount of confidence in him. kind of unrelated but i can’t imagine how hard it would have been to not talk about this episode right after the season came out (but obv keeping it in would have been important to not spoil for others). i would’ve wanted to talk about it and absolutely nothing else, ig i’m lucky i only got netflix when the season had been out for a while lol

I think the beauty of Robin's story from the beginning is that most, not all, but most of the viewers thought that she was this outcast who didn't get noticed by Steve and that she wanted to be with Steve when in actual reality, some part of her wanted to BE Steve because all the girls noticed him, not her. I think it's a nice change in terms of storyline. Like some commenters would say, if they ended up together, it would've been too predictable and too generic. This relationship of theirs gave us a friendship we never knew we needed. there's a lot of gay guy characters with straight female characters friendship, so it's nice to have this from Netflix :)

I think this mislead and misdirection was kind of crappy... like I didn't root them as a couple but this was a real bait and switch..
@azazelop52232 жыл бұрын
Tbf, she made it clear in her next line after that, that she was obsessed with the things he had, not really him. “We still just want to be popular, accepted, normal.” Since she felt like an outcast because of her sexuality, she just wanted to be seen as normal and to have people like her like people did with Steve. At the time, since we didn’t know her sexuality, I assumed she was just a social outcast in school. Them being love interests seemed too obvious, so I always viewed them more as friends from the start, and this scene was one of the ones that made me sure they wouldn’t end up together by the end. I didn’t predict that she was gay though.

My favorite type of friendship, a lesbian and her emotional support himbo
@dildoyolo2 жыл бұрын
I knew from the second she spoke she was going to be lesbian and I was so scared at being misrepresented and let down but god , Maya Hawke blew me away. She’s so dedicated to Robin as a character - it genuinely means so much to me as a lesbian myself. Representation matters so much , just as well as the reaction to it. Steve made me really proud and him accepting Robin so quickly is a great show of character to how far he’s come. You can clearly see it’s not something he’s encountered before and that he’s let down on some level but at the same time - Robins his friend. The first true one he’s ever had. I wouldn’t be surprised if he had never felt that level of trust before. I really just love this friendship. Netflix did amazing on S3 - I hope S4 holds up to it.
