That reserved quiet man turned out to be one of the bravest and kindest of them all. It’s an absolute tragedy that he died because he lost his cool for one moment when trying to free everyone from the plane. That man was so unique and the definition of a true hero. They were completely doomed without that Man.

Although the whole entire film had me in awe a few scenes stuck out: 1) the first night on the mountain and the boy crying for his mommy 2) the look on Nando’s face when Roberto fixed his shoe on the climb. I imagine these 2 have a bond that surpasses brotherhood. Probably like the bond that prisoners of war and soldiers have. 3)the scene when Roberto buried the rugby sock with human remains. 4)when the helicopters arrived, Zerbino’s refusal to go without the victims belongings 5) I hate that I can’t remember his name but that survivor looking at the nurse who was treating him. His beautiful bright eyes on that poor decrepit body 6)the boy dying who screamed for his dad. 7) ave Maria on the radio broadcast 8) Roberto’s sweet soothing face of reassurance and pride when Nando understandably was scared boarding the helicopter

Soy de Polonia, conocía esta historia desde hace años, leí artículos, vi algunos documentales y vi la versión de 1993, ¡pero no es nada comparado con esta obra maestra! ¡Película absolutamente increíble! Una de las mejores películas de supervivencia jamás realizadas. Las actuaciones, el guión, la cinematografía, la música, los efectos especiales... todo de primera calidad. Una de las palabras más hermosas jamás escritas, es exactamente la línea que dijo Roberto (la recordé del documental) que los cuerpos de sus amigos y queridos muertos, que comían, eran "como la Eucaristía, como el cuerpo de Cristo, y les dio salvación - vida'; y la segunda línea de la película que dice "No hay mayor amor que dar la vida por los amigos". ¡Palabras desgarradoras, pero absolutamente hermosas y brillantes! ¡Estoy totalmente de acuerdo! Si estuviera en una situación similar, también permitiría/daría permiso a mis amigos y seres queridos para que se comieran mi cuerpo si eso les salvara la vida. El cuerpo es sólo un envoltorio, lo que cuenta es lo que hay en su interior, algo que esta película también muestra brillantemente: ¡el espíritu de altruismo y amor! ¡Y no se habla lo suficiente de que nuestra especie ha sobrevivido tantos siglos gracias al amor mutuo y al altruismo, gracias a la fe común y a la fuerza de voluntad para no rendirse ni siquiera en las peores circunstancias! ¡También creo que aquellos que murieron en esta tragedia y fueron devorados todavía viven - física y espiritualmente - en los sobrevivientes! ¡Dieron sus vidas y sus cuerpos para que los demás pudieran luchar y vivir! ¡El final me hizo llorar como un bebé! Fue tan emotivo, tan conmovedor y crudo. ¡¡Esta historia es una de las historias de supervivencia más increíbles de todos los tiempos!! ¡La película necesita ganar un Oscar o nos rebelaremos! La mamá de Coco siempre apoyó a los supervivientes, está feliz que el cuerpo de su hijo les haya servido para sobrevivir (el mismo Coco en una carta que escribió menciona que quiere que sus amigos dispongan de su cuerpo si muere) ya que siente que así ellos siempre llevarán un pedacito de Coco con ellos❤.

I just saw this film on Friday, and two days later, I'm still speechless. I read "Alive" when I was 11. (I'm 60 this year.) From that day, I never lost sight of Sr Parrado and his compatriots. Every single time in my l ife that I felt like giving up, he would not let me. Their story wouldn't let me. I've seen all the documentaries, fictionalisations, interviews, but I have never, ever seen a film like this one. Not about their story, not anybody's. Not ever. The crash sequence left me sobbing-I couldn't watch.. This film was the most terrifying, amazing, beautiful film I have ever seen. I was utterly unfamiliar with Sr Bayona's work, but be assured, that's changed forever. I will go back and watch that scene and watch it all. They didn't look away. I shouldn't either. Profound thanks to Netflix for this film. If it doesn't win the Oscar, I'm calling the police. If you haven't seen it, go do it now. Now. I dare you to watch it and remain unchanged.

I was 5 days shy of turning 8 when the crash happened & remember this plane crash so vividly. At 59 watching the movie was something I cannot put into words. I cried like I’ve never cried before & cried even more watching the survivors listen to their pending rescue on the radio, getting ready for rescue, & then the rescue itself. The entire cast was phenomenal. Portraying humanity, Faith, Hope & Love for each other is something so many can learn from. Prior to watching I did a lot of reading. It is hard to believe 52 years have passed. This movie is like no other & it was so very well done, not shedding a bad light but a beautiful light on such a tragic accident. ❤

So happy their story gets to be told again!! I lived in Uruguay for 4 years and got to meet Roberto Canesa at a South African function , he was invited because he travels there as he is a doctor. We spoke and he was so humble he actually said to me that he’s been through so much nothing fazes him anymore and he just appreciates life. He actually tried to rent out his house in Carrasco to us. Also got to meet Carlos Paez in Punta Del Este and he was also awesome to talk to and you could see how much love he has for his son Carlitos whom he never gave up on! I hope this film gets the accolades it deserves because honestly if I’ve learned one thing from it, it’s that the human spirit will always come in clutch when you need it the most 💚💚RIP to those who passed

Lee el libro, es mucho mejor !!!! Se llama así. La sociedad de la nieve. Acá un fragmento : A medida que pasaba el tiempo, Gustavo se dio cuenta de que precisaban distintas sustancias, además de las proteínas de los músculos. Faltaban calcio, potasio y magnesio. El hueso los tenía. Entonces, a los compañeros que no podían moverse les entregaban un hueso y un trozo de vidrio para que rasparan hasta que saliera polvo. Cuando comían una cucharada, ingerían calcio. Luego razonaron que les faltaban otros elementos, y comían absolutamente todo lo que se podía comer, sin desaprovechar nada. Empezaron con los riñones, el hígado y el corazón. Luego siguieron los sesos, para aprovechar el fósforo. Gustavo sabía que era monstruoso, pero él tenía un hacha y alguien debía romper el cráneo. En general los cuerpos estaban boca abajo y no siempre los identificaban. Los del primer escalón recién sabían quién era después de que lo habían terminado de trozar, al cabo de un par de días. Pero la mayoría del grupo, incluyendo los que participaban en el segundo escalón, trozando las raciones pequeñas, hasta el día de hoy no saben exactamente la identidad de los cuerpos utilizados.

Te recomiendo el libro en el que se basó la película. "La sociedad de la nieve" de Pablo Vierci. Es un documental escrito, y tiene mucha mas informacion que la pelicula no incluyó por un tema de tiempo. Tanto libro como pelicula excelentes ambos

This movie/retelling of this tragic accident was fantastic. The whole movie was so intense, emotional and raw, without being exploitative. I lost it towards the end and cry so much. I haven't seen a movie that made me feel so much emotion in a long time. I would say is in my top 3 of most emotional films I have seen about a true story. This movie was a masterpiece and a hard watch at the same time. RIP to all the ones that lost their lives and condolences to the family members and friends 🙏🏼🕊

Lloré con este vídeo cuando habló la hermana de Marcelo, y así mismo, en la peli cuando murió su personaje, porque se les había ido el que los guiaba, su capitán💔. Las 2 versiones se centraron en los supervivientes, pero como ella dice, en esta nueva versión, que definitivamente es la legítima, se acordaron de los que no pudieron volver a ver a sus familias, pero gracias a ellos, los otros 16 volvieron.
