I’m not a drag queen but I have been the person performing to a dead audience and it is so HUMILIATING. It’s one of those universal performer moments.
@TierTwoWorks2 жыл бұрын
And THIS is why I am a hype man everywhere I go - I'd rather the stranger beside me think I'm annoying for cheering all the time than watch someone give their all to a silent room. I have started multiple applause-moments in my day. I guess people forget they're watching someone LIVE, so they just stare in silence like it's TV. I once watched this guy who travelled talking to kids about dinosaurs perform in a room full of teens and adults. You best believe I was hamming it up for him! Not his fault his routine wasn't geared at the audience in attendance. Horrible!

What was your performance act?
@becp488 Жыл бұрын
Girl, I feel ya. Been there. In one show, which was very sound effect heavy, our sound guy had walked mid-show but we didn't know that, so there I am waiting for a cue that was not coming, then having to react to nothing while improvising lines to try to clue the audience in. Painful. I've also had to be the person (stage manager) to get a crying actor in the zone 2 minutes before curtain when there were 4 people the audience. I had to be a little bit mumma and a little bit drill sargent. Thankfully, I've had way more good audiences/performances than bad and the bad ones can make for some funny stories, at least.

Watching Katya react to herself with her bestie Tracy by her side is literally the cutest thing I’ve ever seen!😻😻
@Anaranjado4 жыл бұрын
My entire body seized up from embarrassment watching the performance in the living room. I’ve had a similar experience showcasing my art in competitions... every time a piece touching on taboo or conflicting subjects is being presented, there are people who immediately give that awkward concerned smile or an expression of slight disgust. They don’t care to learn about why I chose to make that piece and what it represents, they at most complain that I don’t paint enough things that are happy and pretty. It’s like a wave of humiliation crashing down on you when people are so actively disapproving during your most vulnerable moment... you’re counting on the crowd to be open to the experience you’re giving them, but some have no remorse for shooting down people that they have contrasting values with.
