Great video👍🏼 I hard wired my two cameras. No more charge batteries. 20’ wire and a 14’ wire from ebay $22 for both. I ran a wire in my attic to the attic air vent and another one over the left corner of my roll up garage door.

Great video. No BS and covered all the important stuff. You are a natural. I did get these cameras a month ago (birthday gift) and they have performed well. Added two more. Amazon had them for $139 each. that price has gone back up since then. battery life has not been a big issue. all are at 88% or greater. Very easy to install and love the phone app. Keep up the great videos.

Very good review Chris! I purchased the 3 camera Arlo Pro system about 2 months ago. Your PRO's and CON's are pretty much right on the mark. There is a noticeable delay in recording from motion (3-5 seconds) and the 2 way audio is really only 1 way but the mic is really good. Maybe firmware updates will correct those issues. So far I'm very happy with my decision. They are a little pricey but you pay for convenience and not climbing around the attic is convenient! Battery life is on track so far for 4 - 5 months. Good, accurate and thorough review. I look forward to seeing more of your reviews!

Loved your video... My husband is a computer Geek. suffice it to say we spent a TON! on all the extras "We could of gone to Vegas for the weekend :( "However... we bought the extended extra long super thin power cords (new tech that recently came out!) and ran them through our windows to plug in and there is no need to worry about having to get up on the tall ladder up to the second story to swap out the batteries. We are very happy with them! we got skins and the hardware anchors so our cameras are screwed on to make it difficult to remove, especially the one above the door! And the phone app is comparable to other systems... and no monthly fee!! awesome on the $avings. Arlo pro's are expensive but we are happy we did not have to drill holes or get an electrician or pay someone to put them up... we will see how they do in the Hot summer sun and in the cold frigid Chicago winters... :D We did have to ask for Netgear to swap out two cameras! it was a huge hassel... but then the reason they make you jump through hoops is so that they can better their products and find out exactly what went wrong and improve on them... I get that. Our home is wired (with netgear products) and has a ton of technology... You'd never know it by the outside of our home but it is... Over all we are very happy... and the nice thing is that if we ever sell our home we can take them with. OH and one HUGE thing... is that the base station/system can and will get updates which is a PLUS!!! or not? I am not sure of other systems or if other systems send out and get updates... perhaps the expensive ones but ... shop around... May the odds be ever in your favor!

Good vid. I've had my system for about 2.5 months. Love the system and serves my my needs. A couple of points that I'm sure are already noted here, I hope: 1-charging is not a big deal. Since they're magnetic to their mounts, just pull them in on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon and in 3-3.5 hours, you're all charged up. 2-You can add to the system. But a 1 or 2 camera system, then add more cameras as your budget or needs dictate. 3-And finally to your point, the sensitivity of these cameras can be adjusted. If you have branches or tree limbs in the field of view AND it is breezy, you be deleting a lot of videos due to the wind. IE- battery life will be diminished somewhat. This is a great system without the need for a security company. DIY all the way!
@tschaderdstrom21457 жыл бұрын
When adjusting the sensitivity of the motion activation, does it still consider the full field of view, or can you block off a portion of the FOV to not trigger?

Nicely done. I have two of the pros and an Arlo Q which I bought last December. The battery life is short for areas with high traffic. My pro in the backyard only goes about a month but the one at my front door has been going for three months with 20% battery life left. A minor pain to have to charge it once a month but I feel better have it this than nothing. The Arlo Q is rock solid.

First off, great car. I have the same Audi myself. Second, I love my Arlo Pro. I have to disagree with a couple of your "cons". So far I'm 3.5 months into ownership and both my cameras still have 55% battery life in them. So they are on target for lasting 6 months. Taking them down, and recharging them for 2 hours twice a year is really not that big a deal at all. The other con I disagree with is the price. When you price out wired systems and add labor for running cables through ones attic it can reach over $2K for a nice system. Much like Sonos systems, you're paying for the extreme convenience of not drilling, crawling, and running cables throughout. I think a Con you didin't mention was the speaker function which is weak and you can barely be heard, but the microphone is excellent. I recently had workers in my backyard and I could hear them clearly from about 50 ft away discussing what they were doing. Good review. Thumbs up.

The Arlo Classic cameras are perfect for doorstep cameras, so if someone walks up to your door, it will catch them, but if you want a more house wide survailance system, get these. The sensing technology is better and the video quality. We will be buying an arlo pro add on for our driveway and using the classic ones on our front and back doors.

I've used Arlo in the past, but I ended up returning them because of signal issues. Did some looking around and found Armorax. Their wire free cameras are legit. First of all, there aren't many battery powered cameras on the market to begin with, so to have an alternative to the Arlo is refreshing in itself. So this Armorax camera does everything the Arlo does, and then it also has comes with a base station with the camera (and you don't have to pay for the base station) that acts as a wifi extender. I don't know if it's the base station, but my Armorax cameras have performed wayyyy better than the Arlos - more consistent connection, better picture quality, more app features.

I prefer the Armorax battery cameras over the Arlo. Batteries last longer (about a couple months more) and in my experience the base station performed far better. The connection was more stable, plus you get the base station included with the camera for free.

Great and helpful video! Two questions on the Pro. Max recording time per clip is 120 seconds, but if motion is on going longer than that, will it begin a new clip right away so that it is sort of continuous? or is there a long gap? Also, does battery lasts 4-6 months on single charge with their usage guidelines (and then simply needs to be charged again), or do they actually need to be replaced after that time? Thank you!

Just an FYI for people looking into these. 100 percent cloud system. This means if the internet or access to cloud goes down your cameras are useless. Also the backup drive option is exactly that. You can't access it via website or mobile app. You must disconnect the drive and connect to a PC.

Chris, You seem to know more than most so I have to ask which camera system would work best for a barn? The home is on the property but we'd mostly like the camera's to "view" what the horses are doing. That way at night we can see what a horse might be doing on the back side of the barn without going out to the barn. We would need maybe 4 locations covered, some 2 inside and 2 outside. Obviously there will always be movement so this is a tuff find. Got any suggestions?
