You forgot about the turning the sea into a lake part, we do not fear the water, the water fears us

Correction: Amsterdam was NEVER besieged by Alva's troops, since Amsterdam was firmly on the side of the Spanish.(Which is why Haarlem fell, essentially, since Amsterdam killed the "Geuzen-Fleet" that provided Haarlems provisions) It wasn't until long after Alva retreated for good they switched sides. The "Skate-battles"" described probably took place either at the siege of Haarlem or Alkmaar.

I am only 50% Dutch and 50% German living in Germany. Watching this video I must agree that The Netherlands is quite a country. It is amazingly well organised, has influenced the world with 2 Golden Ages, invented from the cassetterecorder, to the CD (with Sony), to Bluetooth to just name a few things from the recent past. Or the microscope, the telescope to name some objects from a farther past. It does not matter where you are in this world, wether visiting Machu Pichu, strolling around in Marrakech, just drinking a coffee in Kingston or lying on a beach in Rhodes, there is always someone from The Netherlands around. Small country, but I must say, a huge country when it comes down to its influence worldwide. The Dutch themselves love to complain about, well............everything. That constantly complaining could just be the key to so many new inventions and improvements. Leading the world in water management, medical equipment, major trader, importer and exporter and as we love to say in Germany; The Netherlands is our 17th Bundesland (17th state) and the royal family is also our royal family. Germany imports amazing amounts of goods from our neighbour and with the exception of those Wasserbomben Tomaten (waterbomb tomatoes from The Netherlands), all other products are extremely good.

Wow what an honor, my country for the second time :)

Great videos! Excellent presentation and fun to watch. I've watched both but what I am missing a bit is Surinam (which most of these videos at least mention) or the old name (slave colony) Dutch Guiana.

Thanks for making videos about Netherlands!

As a direct dutch guy here, I have to mention that gezellig is spelled with only one Z. Great video though!

Fantastic and well explained. I'm originally from Belgium now living in the US for the past 30 years.

Yep, blunt speaking but always gezellig. That is why I felt so at home here when I moved from England. And now I am a full fledged Dutchie.

Great vid! You are actually the first KZbinr, making a video about the Netherlands without calling it "Holland", that i know of. Thank you for that :)

I never thought about Yankee being a Dutch contraction. Nice. Would love to see part 3. 😁

nice video and pretty accurate, but as a Frisian, i have to correct the part about the elfstedentocht. It starts in Leeuwarden and then goes with the clock to all the eleven cities, and ends in Leeuwarden again. Still, it's really nice to see my countrand culture represented on KZbin.
