Netherlands Keukenhof 2024 - Netherlands [4K]
Keukenhof ("Kitchen Garden" in Dutch), is a sprawling park of more than 32 hectares with immense tulip gardens, located between the towns of Lisse and Hillegom, in the Netherlands. Also known as "the garden of Europe", it is one of the most beautiful places in the country. It has an impressive collection of flowers and hybrids of different species, greenhouses (where flowers, bulbs and seeds are sold), old mills, lakes, fountains and large walks. The whole complex has a beautiful artistic treatment, so flowers and lakes become the basis of its immense avenues.
History
The grounds of the park were within the possessions of the noblewoman Jacoba of Bavaria and it is said that it was she herself who named it, in one of her regular walks through the area, with that name when identifying the fragrance of the herbs and spices with the cuisine of her palace. After his death, the land passed into the hands of wealthy merchant families who, aware of its attractiveness, in 1840 commissioned various landscape painters to design the first design of what would become the future park. Visiting dates
It is recommended to visit Keukenhof during the middle fifteen days of May, which is when the tulip fields are in bloom. The park is open eight weeks a year, between mid-March and the end of May. Entrance to the park requires payment. There are stations in the towns of Haarlem and Leiden that have tourist buses to get there.
