Netherlands purchases Swedish made Mjölner 120mm self propelled mortars for superior fire support

On June 11, 2024, the Dutch Ministry of Defense announced a significant upgrade to its mechanized infantry units with the procurement of Mjölner 120mm self-propelled mortars. These advanced systems, manufactured by the Swedish company BAE Hägglunds, are based on the CV90 infantry fighting vehicle (IFV). This strategic move aims to establish a robust, layered ground-based fire support system to bolster the operational capabilities of Dutch armored infantry units against light armored threats and dismounted enemy infantry.

I would prefer the AMOS myself, but this is definitely a lot better than the obsolete dismounted and towed mortars currently in use. This gives the operators protection and allows shoot and scoot.

dan hoeven we onze kwetsbare infanterie mortier eenheden niet die kwetsbaar zijn defensie denkt veel aan onze mannen en vrouwenm handig wanneer in urbainfight en als vijande niet met direct vuur los uitschakelen, deze hebben ook meerdere mortieren in de zweed mjelner terwijl je minder mensen in de mjolner hebt dan 4 eenheden van een zware mortier unit. door qualiteit te verbeteren loop je in op quantiteit.

Did they fix the turrets? CV90NL had a lot of problems of turrets malfunctioning

I dont see any point in something that big and slow, unless every ammunition it fires can loiter

Currently both Ukraine and Russia are using tanks and IFVs for quick indirect fire missions. This vehicle would perform far better at the job. Definitely very useful.

Szwedzi mają malutką armię. Nic tego nie zmieni też że maja starzejace sie społeczeństwo wiec bedą ogromne problemy nawet z utrzymaniem tego co jest a o uzupełnianiu strat w czasie wojny nie bedzie nawet mowy.

You wanna know why? There's two aspects of warfare: manpower and technology. Sweden has the technology, Finland has the manpower.

@@UnderTheBanner Boy realy have no clue or you're trying to patronise Finns. The number is nowhere near what you claim. It's estimsted that in 2030 the number of Finns over 64 will be 26 %. That would meen that to get your claim right 49 % of them would be between 60 and 64. Not even you can claim that and expect anyone to belive you.

I was more happy if they bought the CV90120. This is very good mortar, no doubt, bu the Dutch army must have tankpower again. We dont have tanks at all.. In the future we get a new tank batllion with 50 tanks. But thats my opinion.. you need tanks, otherwise you can not even defend these vehicles.
