Neto and Traore swapping sides was the main reason for the better second half. Almost everything good came because of that. They were able to play inside, making the system naturally narrower. Which allowed the front 3 to link up, gave the wing backs space to exploit rather than trying to occupy the same space as the wingers, and it gave João and Neves passing options. It made us a compact unit so we were able to press which we couldn't do in the first half as our players were all so far apart, which allowed us to get hold of the ball and get on the front foot. I think after the first minute of the second half, the lads saw that southhapton were vulnerable, which got them motivated. We managed to get the penalty early which gave them confidence

On the penaltys - I think the Bertrand one actually hit his hand which was away from from his body by a ball flying directly to the goal so if he hadnt handled it, it could even have been a goal - potentially. On the other incident, it hit his upper arm that was next to his body and was a ball heading away from goal into a crowd and definitely did not prevent a goal attempt. Ultimately the on field Ref ruled along those facts and VAR did not decide there was a clear mistake so had to ratify the Ref's decision in both cases.

Hi lads shocking first half traore never in it kept loosing the ball and then waves his arms in the air when he loses the ball saying hes been fouled. What we have lost from the last two seasons is to defend from the front and we dont pressure them coming out anymore we just let them play out where we usually pressure them into mistakes but we showed it more second half. we looked light weight in the middle Moutinho's age has court up with him Owtsovie should get his chance along side neves Semedo and traore are to similar going forward with no understanding that's where Doc was best with traore So having NETO on the right and traore on the left makes better sense. At the back dendoncker was poor on the right and I think we miss someone like Bennett in that position Kilman is solid and coady doesn't look that comfortable at the moment As for our two strikers in Jose and Silva none have really stepped up though Silva is young and learning he gets into the right position's and I think he will be a great player maybe next season as for Jose I thought he would be on the score sheet by now looks a bit lazy and slow but seems to hold the ball up well. So we have Leeds next and I'm not looking forward to that I just hope we can carry on from that second half performance or I feel the worse for us and leeds have a lot of energy right to the end it will be tough. And finally NETO he is some player and what a great goal he scored reminded me of Coata goal in the championship when he scored from an impossible angle but we have to keep him at all costs and build the team around him what a talent.🧡🖤

Donk need to close down players better this season he's got to be our most declined player this season bailis 2 out of 10 first half and 8 out of 10 seconds so that makes a 10 out of 10 then lol
