As an old timer in this Diocese since 1959, I do not think that more numbers in the pews suggest a more vibrant Church. When the Catholics in NC were less than 2% of the population, the Traditional Latin Mass was efficacious and a profound influence in the Communiities. There was strong fellowship among the believers. Catholic schools were manned by nuns committed to Jesus Christ and they taught the Faith. Numbers do not convey the supernatural elements of Church. Have we progressed?
