I was there. I was 2nd Mate on the Rainbow Warrior at the time. We were in Auckland for a few weeks on the GE Free NZ tour. I got invited at the last minute by another crew member. I didn't even know the gig was on. I've seen Michael Jackson, Dire Straits, U2, Foo Fighters, Elton john and many many more. But this, this gig, remains not just the best, but in the top ten moments of my 62 years on this planet. So many great memories....

...i just said goodbye to my cat comrade of 10 1/2 years after she suffered a sickness that she only showed to me signs of having for about six weeks. i was listening to this album and their debut album, back and forth between the two during her last three or so weeks. i have not revisited this collection until today. she died exactly two weeks ago, nearly to the time of 4:10pm. in light of all the social turmoil everyone is experiencing on the surface of things, i am drawn to the dichotomy of Together Alone. this song especially holds the precise descriptions of the feelings swirling through our day-to-day. there is a constant timelessness that pins us to the Now, and the fleeting moments that remind us we are only HERE now. we are eternal and we are mortal. we have only been here once and we have always been here. so what is it we are trying to keep hold of? seems to me with this logic that there is nothing to be afraid of. it's all brand new and old hat. take your snapshots of memory, when you pause for a moment to dive into a feeling or a view or a study. we will all know what you mean. ❤️

Not that anybody cares, but the Together Alone and Woodface albums mark a special time for me in my 20s. Such great songwriting and craft Mr Finn. Thank you for helping to make my soul dance then and now...
@jasonring52313 жыл бұрын
Those are my two favorite albums by Crowded House. 1. Together Alone 2. Woodface 3. Crowded House The addition of Tim Finn on Woodface, though not lasting, made for a grea dynamic of songwriting, music and vocals that can't be found on Crowded House's other records and really pushed Neil (in my opinion) over the top to produce his best work, Together Alone. I also found out recently that HE also cites Together Alone as his best album.

Together Alone is one of my favourite albums. Not a bad song on it. Moody and atmospheric. Reminds me of my obsession with Australia in the late 90’s and wanting to live there. Everyone remembers the “hits” but songs like Kare Kare and Black and white boy are classics

What an absolutely stunning version of Private Universe. Took me a while to find it! Actually, I just came back to Crowded House's music recently. They were my favourite band for such a long time, and, well, so much of their music totally stands the test time, and then some. Nice to see the Finn album showcased here too. It's a really underrated, sublime low key album imo.
