This song means a lot to me.- As we get older this kind of message begins to make a lot more sense. We (as any young person) used to feel there's no end to being young and having all doors open in front of you and waiting for yourself to make your move. Well, it has taken me a painfully long time to make some moves and it was only me who was keeping me from taking that next step.-

Always loved the music from Colin. For me, what makes this so interesting is that Colin wrote the song about what he mentioned in the intro: He was waiting for his 2nd rise to stardom. As Kami indicated, the message takes on different and more meaningful significance the older we get. For me, the lyrics hit home as I wait for my wife to beat cancer. We are waiting for our real (second, cancer free) life to begin. Bravo Colin. PS- I watch you for your excellent and subtle guitar playing and techniques.

I started listening to this song at night and I found it so comforting and healing. I used to tell myself that my ship was coming in soon. Harlan Howard once said, “All you need to write a song is three chords and the truth.” Colin Hay writes the truth like no one else. I’m almost 67 years old, and he makes me realize how much of my life I spent sitting here waiting for something else. I don’t know who needs to hear this, but your real life is moving faster than you know. Stop waiting for something else and live like you mean it.

I heard this song at pandora at first and wondered who could write this candid lyrics and I see a very humble man who loves what he does. I'm also waiting nowadays and if it begins in next one or two years I'll be back here and leave another comment. Lots of love from Turkey

I was fortunate to discover by fluke chance that he was playing near me on that day when I was in Australia. I didn't waste time purchasing tickets and made the trip to see him. 5 years and many concerts later his show ranks as one of the best. I got to meet him afterwards and he was such a genuinely nice guy. If you enjoyed this and his other work then do go see him if you get a chance, you will not regret it.

Check his tour dates. He's a great night out, and he seems to always hang out after the show to have a chat with those who want. When I saw him last year, he was there more than an hour and a half after the show to sign stuff and talk with people.

I’ve only seen Colin Hay once many years ago when he was hanging around with James Reyne at a live show that James did at St. Kilda foreshore and Brett Goldsmith was the bass guitarist in the band. Colin was there talking with James Reyne before and after the gig. That was around the year 1991.
