This song is utterly beautiful. In my opinion, I think that Where's My Love and Fear of the Water are both linked. In this song, it goes "You're dislocated", essentially saying whoever the singer is singing about is disconnected -- they can't reach them. It also says "You smile when you dive in, like you're never coming back", pointing out that when the person being sung about left, they didn't really give a proper reason as to why (it doesn't mean they literally smiled). The video for Where's My Love shows a girl receiving multiple text messages from a guy, I'm presuming her boyfriend, pretty much asking where she is, and all she replies with is "I'm sorry" (this is linked to the "you're dislocated" part), and later on it is shown that she walks into water; commits suicide ("you smile when you dive in, like you're never coming back"). The guy questions "Where's My Love?", then later finds out the truth, but he is "the last to know". I also think that "Fear of the Water" literally means the guy is afraid of water due to his (possible) girlfriend dying in it, and later commits suicide himself ("See your face when I black out -- I'm never coming back").

I think he's super surprised that he's falling in love after he's been hurt by love. The "water/ancient call" is love. She is not afraid of love, so she jumps right in with a smile on, like she's "never coming back". He's petrified, that's why he calls her dislocated. But ultimately he submits and accepts it as fact and jumps into the water too. And he's "never coming back", either. I love this song so much.

I have not been in contact with my father for years now, simply because the addiction still overpowered the person he is.
