you need windows to run this shit. There is no linux support. Nowhere they say you need to buy Microsoft product to manage Hkvision cameras. They are hardware and software manufacturers for Microsoft. You need to buy from Microsoft to use Hikvision product.

Hi when next he comes to install or maintain watch for the passwords and such other relevant details for login in. Then you can change some or most of them including the up address of the cameras or even the entire system. However, I don't advice you do that for two reasons. 1. If it was installed by a pro. She probably has installed a few others and very likely wouldn't have the time nor interest to do so. Also for ethical reasons and not wanting to piss of your client(customer) most installers will likely not pry into your system. 2. There is a chance you might not know all the details of what to do and how to and you end up ruining your system. Also what if you need mentainance done? Wouldn't you still have to disclose some of this info? My advice. Get the services of a trusted installer. If you suspect your installer is Eve's dropping let them know in the presence of a trusted friend or family member how you feel about that and get feed back from them. It might be a wrong assumption on your part. If that fails you can report to law enforcement in your area depending on if they have the technical know how to investigate the issue. Else hire a trusted company for your installation or hire a pi to investigate this also depends on the technical ability to investigate your installer. The best solution is simply to get a trusted installer. I have installation data for many jobs I have done but have never tried remote viewing my clients. Also most passwords I don't need to know especially ones that can be reset using the clients email and phone number I don't even bother saving. However some clients are to busy or too nonchalant to even remember so I usually keep a diary so anytime they call me for assistance I can always help out. So a trusted installer or installation company is always the best. Check if there are such and if there are regulators in your area that can help. Cheers 2.

You need a poe switch or connected to the nvr... you cannot power the camera of the ISP router..

Late response, but you either need to get an NVR or I believe you can download a Hikvision tool called "iVMS-4200" which I believe lets you view and record footage from your cameras. One thing is the computer would need to be on 24/7. Alternatively, there are Hikvision cameras you can get with a built in SD-card slot, which I assume automatically record to the SD card if enabled.
