Excellent! I've never even heard of protected ports during my CCNA studies. A question: assuming a different setup, could a possible answer be that all PCs are in different VLANs and subnets, and an ACL rule on the default gateway blocks traffic between the two PCs? Since in this scenario, a router-on-a-stick would be employed.

it is a problem when not required Some scenarios you deliberately do to protect two or more pc stop each other communication ...that's why Cisco introduced this ..explain this to student too
