I think mike should just ditch the MX5 and keep on working on his RX7s. They fit his driving style sooo much better and he is way more competitive with them.
@iPROFITDON8 жыл бұрын
If he took this car to the US instead of that Miata he'd probably win a championship finally.
@123789timothy8 жыл бұрын
No probably. He would win for sure. That MX5 is cool and all just because the nature of it but it's just not an as competitive platform for him. Even his RX8 would do better for him in the US. If he pulled the turbos from this car i think he would be way more of a threat. Plus it would sound a lot cooler.
@iPROFITDON8 жыл бұрын
Timothy Lieuw I wouldn't say for sure, but he would have a damn lot better chance, that's for sure. Ever since he got in that Miata it looks like he's fighting it constantly.
@123789timothy8 жыл бұрын
iPROFITDON Okay, maybe guaranteeing a win is a little much, but sure as hell would be doing better then he is now. Like i said, if he were to ditch the turbos and run what is essentially the same 540hp 4 rotor that is in madbull he would still be more competitive then he is now. There is no reason for that car to have 1000+ hp, he is vaughn gittin, he isn't drag racing to the first corner.
@arnotjie8 жыл бұрын
+Timothy Lieuw That may be so, but it also wouldn't be like mad Mike if he didn't go all out bat shit crazy and decide to slap two turbos on an already bonkers 4 rotor. He always looks like he loves every moment of it. Fun is more important than winning. That being said, I agree that he should stick with the rx7, but leave the turbos, haha

LoL, D1 in Japan is now miles behind Formula D in the USA. It isn't even close anymore. The standards for drift cars in the USA are much, much higher. USA-built cars have more power, better suspension geometry, stronger drivetrains, more robust electronics, and stiffer chassis. The quality is dramatically higher. Just look at MotoIQ's coverage of Daigo Saito's SC430 drift car from a couple of years ago. Sure, it had massive 2JZ power, but everything else was crap. A thin, flexy roll-cage and a totally unprofessional after-market electrical system stood out especially. It also had massive 100+ mm spacers instead of properly lengthened suspension arms. Almost everything about it was inferior to the American competition. Japan has produced some great drivers, easily equal in skill to drifters in the USA, but the cars are nowhere near the level of American builds which makes D1 less difficult for someone like Mad Mike to compete in. His RX-7 was built to Formula D standards and it really shows, the Japanese-designed cars in this video just perform pathetically in comparison. None of the other cars came close to a good chase run against him, and then Mike destroyed them all when he was chasing. Mike had performance to spare, he was never giving it %100 on his chase runs. He just didn't have to. Nobody was able to even challenge him at this event, he wiped the floor with the whole field. He's a great driver, but he's not *that* much better than the Japanese pros. His car, like all the top USA cars, is just built to a higher standard.

Looks like TCP got rid of the intake piping not clearing the hood ordeal. It looks so much better with everything "under" the hood lol. I wonder what they had to change in order for it to fit? Modified hood/front bumper along with a different intake manifold? Regardless, Mad Mike looked super comfortable with this track and was just as confident. TCP Magic set up the car beautifully!

Driving that little mx-5 compared to rx-7 is like going from sim steering on forza 4 and back to normal steering again, haha. But seriously looked like he just had so much control on all of hes runs was very enjoyable to watch this event, far better then any FD US event imo! Much better/closer tandems in great 8 and not just a drag race where you sometimes cant even see the cars cause of all the smoke:/ I do think this layout made the event really good also, opens up for so much style and sick entrys!!

FD3S with a 4 rotor NA is still "different" vs the FD3S 13B. Then the RX-8 chassis feels different as well whether you believe it or not. The MX-5's 4 rotor I'm 90% sure is more of a Business/fun wow factor move.
