While I knew rustdesk is good, I always thought I had to localhost a relay server first. The first 10 minutes is a time saver. Thanks Chunk

I've used Duet for a few years to be able to access my computer from my iPad (and to use my iPad as a drawing tablet). But using Twin Gate and Rust Desk seems like a more robust solution!

Regarding the ipad as a drawing tablet, I've had a heck of a time finding anything but Parsec's paid tier or Windows native RDP that supports pen pressure. Looked at rustdesk's github and it seems like they don't support it either. At least not yet.

Thanks Chuck for the timely video - I was just wanting to get access to all of my various computers similar to what you are doing. Seems like a great solution. Btw, your keyboard has a really nice clickety-clack sound that I can almost feel. If it’s a desktop keyboard I’d be interested in the details.! I didn’t find one on your Amazon affiliate linked store.

Hi 👋 Not RDP related precisely, but i've used Twingate for my homelab and i love it, only downside is https connection to my portainer or cockpit service. For work, we've used ZeroTier, and that blew our minds when we started, we could connect to each others PCs with almost no lag.

Gooey is how GUI has always been called. Spelling it out is like how one of my old math teachers would call out someone by saying, "If you're a nerd" if a student says feet squared instead of square feet for ft²

Very cool! I use AnyDesk for all my needs, which are to remote into family and friends' laptops to help them install or update things. My parents and I are running Arch Linux, and they don't know what that means, so sometimes I have to remote in when there's a package conflict when they're updating and it stops. I use SSH to update all my other linux PCs from my main desktop, or just run my update script manually if I happen to be using one of those PCs.

for many years I would use ssh tunnelling with a listening port into Macs then use the built in screenshare, you can also mount sharepoints over afp securely through and ssh connection.

Unraid seems to have a docker container for RustDesk too :D

I use an iPad and RDP into many computers. Windows, Mac, Linux. I tried Rustdesk a while back and if I remember right the interface and scaling wasn’t great. I’ll have to give it another go.

it depends on what monitor is connected to the machine if you have a 1080p the quality will look terrible on an iPad, get yourself a cdmi dummy adapter that supports 4k res. that's if you use them headless

This topic needs more attention: I keep jumping between TeamViewer, anydesk, chrome remote desktop, RDP/xrdp and moonlight. It's hell.

As someone that use windows rdc for basic things, i can 100% confirm that you don t have to be on the same network, but yeah port forwarding is a must
@tendosingh568223 сағат бұрын
Port forward RDP? That's a huge security risk.
