Great explanation. Thanks man. However, the very last step/command you run at the end of the video, you run the show vpc orphan-ports command. when i do that, it never finishes/loads. it just says its going through port database and to be patient. for you it was pretty quick but for me it never pulls up. any ideas?

Nice config overview. If you don't mind sharing - how did you configure Putty to highlight the syntax output? This would be helpful when configuring multiple groups of vPC peers!

thank you for sharing, would you please comment what does the command " spanning-tree port type network" in the port-channel for vpc peer-link?

This tells spanning-tree that there's another switch at the other end of the link, so it should look for BPDUs

Thanks for the video. Would it be too much trouble to explain how did you configure your putty to display different console colors and text colors?

That's not putty unfortunately. That's config within the Nexus
@CiscoPhipse7 жыл бұрын
Great video, nice and simple, just how I like it :-) Just a side note - How did you get the different colours in Putty? I've been trying to figure this out.
@NetworkDirection7 жыл бұрын
The syntax colouring comes from the Nexus switch. Enable it with the 'terminal color' or 'terminal color persist' command. Unfortunately, I don't know of a way to do this on other devices like ASA's or IOS routers

Should the meber ports be same on both the switches and the ports used in Peer link, Like if we have used Eth1/53 and 54 in Sw1, DO we need to add Eth1/53 and 54 only on the second switch or any other port will work, I can bundle 1/37-38 ??

Between the mgmt 0, is it a straight cable or crossover cable?
@NetworkDirection5 жыл бұрын
They are SFP ports, so just twinax or fibre would be fine You could use the RJ45 SFP I guess, in which case I assume straight through would be ok, and auto-mdix would fix it up if there's a problem. I honestly don't remember the last time I needed to use a cross-over...
@CapitaineWEB-FR5 жыл бұрын
Network Direction On our Cisco Nexus 3064-X, both management back port are Ethernet. That’s why I ask for the cable type :)
@NetworkDirection5 жыл бұрын
Makes sense. The N3K’s are a little different to the other Nexus. I think straight through would be the way to go
@CapitaineWEB-FR5 жыл бұрын
Network Direction I’ve been able to make it work today as your tutorial without any issues! I’m waiting for two x 40Gbp/s cable to have more output :) instead of two x 10Gbp/s. Also would like to move the keep-alive away from the mgmt 0. Straight cable is working for the mgmt 0 setup. Thank you very much for your videos and help! 👍🏻

Does the peer-link have to be in the same VRF as member ports?
@NetworkDirection5 жыл бұрын
The peer-link is layer-2, just as the member ports would be. So, they're not in a VRF.

i have one doubt. Can i manage second switch or config the second switch from active switch. Like VSS????

The two switches are managed separately as far as vPC is concerned. They don't share a control plane as in VSS

hi i have a problem if i do this VPC on my current config of vxlan my VXlan stops working ??????????!!!!!!!!!!help please
@NetworkDirection5 жыл бұрын
In VXLAN you have loopback interfaces for BGP peering. When you add vPC, you need to make sure that you have a secondary IP on those loopbacks. The IP needs to be the same on both switches. I haven't done a video on VXLAN with vPC. May it's a good time to look into it.
