This singer has just won the Song Prize 2019 Cardiff Singer of the World and I am not surprised. This Mozart aria is wonderful. Please someone give Mingjie Lei a recording contract. You can tell he was inspired by Fritz Wunderlich. Great! ,’ Charmaine

If he won at Cardiff this year I am not surprised. The voice is beautiful and except for some aspirating in the florid passages he is extremely gifted. The aria is usually cut because of its difficulties, perhaps not so much in Europe but also in recordings of the opera. He should have a splendid career.

He acquits himself very well to Mozart. Dammit, I'm trying to remember who he sounds like. It has a lovely secure confident tone. At no time did he force the issue either. Don't worry about this guy, he should have a future.

Wenn man Fritz Wunderlich als Meßlatte bemühen möchte, dann darf ich sagen Chapeau, lieber Mingjie, Fritz wä re glücklich, dies, wie vorgetragen, zu hören...Chapeau !!!!!!! Mit Innerem Blut, süßestem Ton wird hier Mozart gesungen, der fürwahr nicht leicht zu singen ist... Aber immer so klingen sollte...!!!! Wunderbarer und fokussierter Stimmsitz, Ansatz gleichermaßen...!!!
