This is the sentiment that the members of ABBA grow up within... It often shines through in even their happiest song, if you listen carefully. Wonderful performance! I´m a Swede, living in Mexico, keeping in touch with my sentiments listening to Swedish music. This is medicine for my soul.

For anyone not speaking Swedish, original lyrics and translation: Vem kan segla förutan vind? Vem kan ro utan åror? Vem kan skiljas från vännen sin, utan att fälla tårar? Jag kan segla förutan vind Jag kan ro utan åror Men ej skiljas från vännen min, utan att fälla tårar Who can sail without wind? Who can row without oars? Who can part from his friend, without shedding tears? I can sail without wind I can row without oars But not part from my friend, without shedding tears

For those curious, the lyrics mean: Who can sail without wind? Who can row without oars? Who can part with their friend without shedding tears? I can sail without wind I can row without oars But I can't part with my friend without shedding tears I would translate to German if I knew German, sorry ;)

This is the German Version. Thank you💕

THIS IS A FINNISH FOLK SONG Who can sail without wind? is a folk song known from Finland's Swedish countryside and it is believed that it comes from Åland. It goes in minor at 3/4 time. The opening line is found in the fifth stanza of an 18th century poem, "Good night, good night, my dearest" and in its current form the song was first published in 1909. The poem relates to a theme that is common in sailor songs - to be separated from it you are in love @t

To say that this is a FINNISH FOLK SONG is kind of weird. It is writen in Swedish and Åland was a Swedish Island who is today part of Finland but Åland is self governing and Swedish is the spoken language. The original lyrics also come from a swedish song, so i have no idé how this is a FINNISH FOLK SONG, i have never heard one finnish person sing this in finnish because the song is swedish.

Im not trying to be offensive, im simply curious. Why would they need to be reading? The song is 8 verses total?
@SlambobPG10 жыл бұрын
They're singing in an foreign language, there's probably some voice pitch notes in there aswell
@davidrichardson74077 жыл бұрын
Choirs need to be able to read the descant notes too. Once a choir's well-rehearsed, they know the lyrics, but it's the timing and notes that it's good to check on.

This folkssong comes from the Swedish speaking part of Finland, it is said that it originates from the Åland Islands, which is entirely Swedish speaking by law. So it is not from Sweden.
