i own a set of KH310 + KH750, a set of KH120 and will add another set of KH80DSP for near-field. i am a big fan of neumann (former K+H) since i heard them the very first time because of their technical perfection. can't imagine anything better if it's up for listening to the truth. most surprising moment was when i first heard a pair of KH120 years ago, i was blown away by the liveliness this little speaker produces. nice video and very calm and pleasant voice, easy to listen to. your channel should grow bigger.

Not even close to Genelec's high quality level. Many people when marketing a product underperform.

Hey man, great video. Glad to see your audience growing. Do you see any advantage from stepping up to the 120 model?

Hey, thanks! I guess it depends on the size of your room and the kind of stuff you're recording? For me I'm mainly doing guitar and vocals so it probably wouldn't make much sense but then again I haven't tried out the 120's in my room so I can't say? Do you have the KH80's?

@@FabianHollandGuitar I don't have anything at the moment, I simply monitor over the headphones (good and true sound, Grado PS500) but I was set on the 120s when I decide to get the monitors. If the 80s provide enough of definition and low end, then I also don't really have the reason to go up the chain. I'm mostly recording guitar and vocals as well. OK, thank you, that's a good info.

@@BucoBucolini If you're mid or farfield, I'd go with the KH120II, not the A version, but the II. But since you're monitoring, you're likely to be nearfield, so the KH80 should be fine.

6:18 i feel like i am seeing perfection Hi thank you very much for your excellent review of an excellent monitor 4" for a mid are fine For a woofer i dont know You can measure the freq response at the listening spot anyway and check I heard the 120 and i was extremely impressed You can always add a sub in the future for a full range experience A step by step approach

Hi, thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video. Yeah if I do more bass recording then I would probably need a sub. I’d love to try out the 120 monitors!

Since you're doing Vocal and Guitar monitoring, this may not be as important, but I recommend getting multiple subs to deal with room modes. Could suggest the same for your friend. Correction can only deal with constructive mode's, but not destructive, so using actual physical methods is preferable. Also, I'd like to mention, your in room looks incredibly flat, are you sure that's not an on axis measurement rather than an in-room? Most people prefer a tilt in room, a flat in room will sound bright to most.

Hi, thanks for the input. Yeah I think getting a sub could be interesting for sure! But yeah not too important for guitar and vocals. I always check the low end with my headphones. Yeah I guess the measurement would be from my listening position since that's where I took the measurements from. But I guess that's the most important place right? 😉 I quite like a flat response, they don't sound too bright to me. I guess a flat response gives me more of an objective sound.

@@FabianHollandGuitar I say the biggest advantage for subs is to take care of the modes, not solely for the extension they provide. But if the content you're monitoring doesn't go too low, like even around 100-200hz, then it likely isn't needed. Also yeah, definitely, it's best to obtain in room measurements from your listening position, especially if you're doing correction. About the flat in room response, I believe your setup is rather nearfield? The closer you go to the speakers the lesser ER(Early Reflections) and therefore PIR(Predicted In-Room, also known as Estimated In-Room) matters, so speaker tilt in room would also reduce, which is why my guess is that your listening position is rather close. But regardless, these monitors are fantastic, they should be serving you well. One thing you may wanna look at is the overall decay, or RT30 of your setup. But I'm not familiar with obtaining measurements and fixing this, so you'd need to find others to assist you with this haha

Thanks for the laid back video. I am starting to look into DSP monitors. Once they are corrected, do you need anything running on your computer or is the eq setting stored in the monitor? I am thinking about how, if possible to callibrate for a 5.1 setup
@FabianHollandGuitar
@FabianHollandGuitar Жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for the comment! Once you have the DSP running you shouldn't need any EQ correction, it'll all be sorted by the DSP. I'm not sure about a 5.1 setup? But I guess it's possible?

Yes, it's possible. You can calibrate immersive and multichannel setups if you buy the Version of MA 1 for Multichannel. Cheers!

Hello Fabian, thank you for this nice video. However, I think you should be more skeptical. If you see a nice flat alignment curve on your screen, you should not believe too much in what you see. This alignment curve is only calculated - not a measurement. I measured the real sound with my MK 120 II in the room before and after aligning the speakers and I can tell you that the frequency response curve was better than before, but nowhere near as good as the alignment curve would have you believe. Better measure again - it's no problem with REW, for example.

Hi, thanks for your comment. I really appreciate you reaching out to let me know about this. Just out of interest what did you measure your room with after your alignment? Cheers

I recently auditioned these, but went with Adam A series instead The Neumann were soooo flat, and I went in thinking I’d buy them. But mix depth and placement won on the Adam

Hi, yeah Adam Audio makes some great monitors for sure! I'm really impressed with how flat the Neumanns are and their DSP technology is really quite advanced. It's a bit of a longer process compared to other DSP monitors but it's really worth it. Thanks for checking out the video! 😊
