Great presentation on this comparison. Lots of detail here and to the point. A/B comparisons are really well done. I have the Tone King and Plini X but in the end I'm probably gonna grab this one too. For the price it's an insane amount of options of variation. Sometimes I like to multitrack layered guitars using a very paltry guitar collection, and having the amp variation would certainly help with the layering. Subbed and liked. You had me on your first Tone King video!
@DadRockAndGuitars9 ай бұрын
Thank you Adam! I also often like using varied sounds (different amps and/or guitars) when multitracking guitars. Makes things bigger and wider. These are both definitely worth picking up and Neural DSP typically do and Anniversary sale soon with 50% off! Thanks for watching and appreciate the comment 👍

Cool video showcasing the comparisons. I have them both but can hear the differences in your video better than when I'm playing. :) I've been digging the Tone King for a while now. The Morgan is great too and this video shows how Neural has effectively created a diverse set here and we really "need" both!

Thanks for the comparison! I have been using Tone King for a year for many of my recordings, and to me it sounds pretty good! I am glad that now we have more choices when coming to vintage and clean guitar sounds. :)

I agree, it's nice to see Neural DSP expanding the classic and vintage options. Do you use any other amp sims besides the Tone King?
@WillemStrandberg9 ай бұрын
Thanks for this! It is indeed hard to pick a favorite. I liked the Tone King for the cleans, the compressed, and the reverb (not to mention that lovely chorus), and the Morgan sounded better for the overdrive and the delay. Both sounded killer!

Like you said, both are great! Neural DSP should be running their anniversary sale soon, so may be worth just getting both! 😅 Thanks for watching and appreciate you sharing your opinion 👍

They are both really good! That’s awesome that you have a real Tone King! That’s on my “dream amp” list. How do you feel the amp sim compares to the real one?
@mikekratochwill419510 ай бұрын
@@DadRockAndGuitars I downloaded the free trial first. Initially, I was a bit disappointed because the real TK had much more headroom than the Neural TK. Then I started playing around with the input to get it to react more like a real Tone King amp. They compare fairly well, though I have to say that my TK experience is with the Meteor and Metropolitan models and both might be a bit more mid-focused than the Imperial that Neural is modeling. But still, very convincing recorded tones!
@DadRockAndGuitars10 ай бұрын
@@mikekratochwill4195 Very cool! I've heard people say that the real one has more headroom. But like you said you did, I just turn down the input and get plenty of headroom. I find that I pull the input down a bit on most amp sims. Thanks for watching and the additional insights. 👍

It depends on which amp you prefer. They're both very true to the actual amps. Edge of breakup for sure morgan. Cleans with a great reverb. The tone king is really bass heavy though before EQing

There are a lot of great tones in the Morgan! Kind of nice to have great cleans from 3 different amps. One of my favorite tones though is cranking up the the gain on the SW50R. I loved the Morgan Suite, didn’t care much for the Tone King. If you are a dad rocker have you ever tried the Marshall Suite from Softube? Probably the best vintage amp sim I’ve heard
@DadRockAndGuitarsАй бұрын
I haven't tried the entire Marshall Suite, but I did get the Marshall Plexi Classic for free as part of the software bundle that came with my UA Volt 2 interface. It does sound really good! It has limitations in that there's only an SM57 mic option, but it's still really good. I may look into the full suite. I have the ML800 from ML Sound Lab and that's really good too. Thanks for watching 👍

I watched loads of Neural DSP videos before purchasing one of these little boyz. I only wanted a good solid amp but these pedals also sound phenomenal. The only issue I have with them is that, they don’t seem to be replaceable in the signal chain. I use my pedals in a kind of experimental way: put some time based stuff and phaser upfront, then drive, then compression, then modulation and other time based things. As far as I understand from all the videos, the signal chain is static. It would be much more useful if the signal chain was more dynamic, allowing pedals to move around and also allowing external pedals to join the party between the pedals. If Neural DSP is supposed to be a professional recording and performance suite, this kind of flexibility seems like a must to me if the pedals are gonna be used.
@DadRockAndGuitars28 күн бұрын
Yeah, unfortunately you can't move the pedals around in the software. That would be cool if you could! If you're using the amp sim as a plugin in recording software, you could add an another instance of the amp sim right before your main one, and turn off everything but the time based pedals in the new instance. That would effectively give you what you're looking for.
@Zafersernikli28 күн бұрын
@@DadRockAndGuitarsDo you know whether the latency drops when the amp is disabled, cuz if more than one instance of the plugin is chained, the 6ms latency would be multiplied and become noticeable I suppose.
@DadRockAndGuitars28 күн бұрын
@@Zafersernikli I'm not sure if it technically reduces the latency when components are turned off, but I haven't had any noticeable added latency when I've tried this. I'd say it's worth trying with your setup and seeing if you feel a difference or not.
