A cool video! You're giving the valuable perspective to many people out here who even though they've played plenty of instruments over the years maybe have been spending most of their money being parent and haven't been able to buy hardware pieces as they come on to the market and every piece of new technology and every piece of software and every upgrade, and it helps to get the perspective of someone familiar, who has earned a certain level of trust or who has established what their perspective is, and why. When it comes to instruments, and instrument components, instrument building techniques, all the way into the meaning of all of the electronics terminology, the impact of cellular composition, not only on hardness, strength, rigidity, and density at a given moisture content, but also the resonance frequencies of molecules, and how the presence, absence, and the relative concentrations of various molecules within the materials used for the construction of the instrument affect the dynamics, the responsive, of these various resonance frequencies, in those kinds of things I am as well versed as anyone, with a breath and depth of knowledge and understanding of all of those things. This knowledge, the level of comfort I have with applying this knowledge shows up in the instruments, parts, and components we build. However, when it comes to items like this, I fall into the group of people who has spent their time and money on being a dad and not on purchasing and deeply learning these pieces of technology. I've enjoyed getting a few plugins learning them and we'll use them for certain things, but I don't think I will ever be completely not wanting to have physical amplifiers to play through, because I do enjoy that activity in those tones just as much as ever. But I appreciate you going through your experience with this piece of tech and your friend has a really, really fucking fantastic company, I have spoken with two of them, a couple years back when I first started my company and had an absolutely great conversation, the first was an email conversation, and then there was a brief phone conversation and they seem like really cool guys that really know their shit love what they're doing and I really look forward to being able to work with their products more in the very near future with the website and KZbin channel coming very soon hopefully.

The future indeed. For those commenting on the price, consider the investment made in building a reasonably high quality pedalboard. Even staying away from boutique pedals and high end studio stuff, it’d be really easy to exceed the price of the Quad. The lead guitarist in my band has twice that invested in his pedalboard alone, before we consider his amp. My amp and cab - admittedly pricey - also cost more than the Quad. The price argument doesn’t really stand up to honest scrutiny...

If you want smoother volumes of the Presets/Scenes in the Cortex, only use the outputs you need because they are all connected. If I have the 2 TRS line outs active as well as the 2 XLR outs on at the same time (Swiping down on the screen brings up this menu) the volume will increase, so I only use the 2 TRS outs (3/4), setting the interface knob to the highest gain/volume setting (100%). I had no more volume problems. The Recording Interface: Set this to the lowest gain value (Counterclockwise). Turn off any outputs you don't need as they are all connected via the master output of the Cortex. I don't know why, but they are. I only use output 3/4. Also, I don't know why much mixing is a thing as these new devices were already referenced to material to begin with. Find the main output setting (Master Volume in your main setting folder of the plugin, NOT a fader!) in your drum software and set it to zero. Most drum plugins default settings are around -6.0db lower. Just set it to zero. This is now your base reference volume. If you want the most flexibility of the recording process with the Cortex, use "Scene" mode, not "Preset" or "Stomp" mode. This will give you different/more parameters of the sound combinations you can work with. I tried using "Preset" mode, and that's ok, but "Scene" mode opened a lot more opportunities (The screen when you swipe up). Example: Scene A might have reverb, but scene B might be dry, scene C might have the chorus sound I'm looking for. In other words, "Scene" mode has all the paintbrush like colors I need to record with. The parameters are more in depth and flexible for the recording process IMO. All you have to do is add 2 stereo guitar tracks, or 4 mono (Quad tracking; just use a different scene) or a stereo track for lead, then a stereo track for bass, a stereo track for vocals. For the Vocal on the Quad Cortex, I just double the stereo track later in ProTools. As long as you record the correct references, you don't have that much to mix. It's mostly done in the recording process IMO. That's all the information I have ATM. I hope this helps many! Good luck!

Is there any clean sounding amps in there Mark bass Aguilar E.B.S S.W.R. ? and how is the unit?
@basstheworldofficial3 жыл бұрын
There's not really a point in capturing these amps. They aim to sound clean and neutral. For these sounds, don't use an amp sound and just add a cabinet and/or room for ambience.

Hi Gregor, would I be able to get a Ebs rig from the Cortex? Love the channel. 🙏🏿
@basstheworldofficial3 жыл бұрын
you can make your own captures from every rig you like but as I wrote before, capturing clean solid state rigs is a little bit pointless. They aim to be a clean and neutral sound and in a modeler you would achieve that with leaving the amp out and using just a cab and/or room sound for ambience. Captures are more interesting for tube amps that come with more radical tone changes as compression, saturation, etc

I didn’t talk about what makes this device superior to others. Simplified: it’s how powerful this “computer” is and the general Apple-like intuitive approach. And of course in a world with rapid technological developments there’s a new best thing every now and then. I’ve been following the development of the quad cortex, I held a mock-up in my hands years ago. I’m genuinely honest with everything I said in this video.
