Ninja Nerds!
In this video Professor Zach Murphy will be discussing the thoracolumbar outflow of the sympathetic nervous system. This will include the preganglionic cell bodies from T1-L2 of the lateral horn in the spinal cord. We also talk about the target organs, the effect that they have on them, and the various ganglia involved with this system. We hope you enjoy this lecture and be sure to support us below!

CORRECTION AT 6:14 The sympathetic nervous system doesn't cause contraction of the ciliaris. It actually relaxes the ciliaris which tightens the zonules causing the lens to become more flat, which is important for far vision. Sorry for that mistake ninja nerds!!!

I am a APRN planning to return for a post masters certificate in pysch/mental health. In preparation for this, I have turned to lectures to review the nervous system and other related basic A/P. I really enjoy this lecturer. He is very knowledgeable and his teachings are reliable. He identifies ambiguities as he notes them in the textbooks accordingly which I respect. He is very enthusiastic and I am glad I found him. I wonder what he is up to these days. Nonetheless, thank you for sharing your knowledge.

I had Scheuermann's disease as a teen and when it developed, I began having a fast heart rate, sweating, anxiety, Raynaud's/acrocyanosis,flushing/blushing, and orthostatic weirdness and erratic energy levels. The docs thought I had a pheochromocytoma, but that was negative. Adderall actually helps. I had my spine corrected in 2011 and look and feel awesome.. I workout a lot and built a lot of muscle... But my sympathetic nervous system is still super super super sensitive. Metanephrines and other adrenals are all normal. I am completely convinced there is something related between my thoracic spine (my curve apex was T8) and my sympathetic nervous system overaction. 20 years since diagnosis, I finally found a health care team who says I am not crazy. It's likely not going to kill me... But I'll tell you, it can be very frustrating. There is basically no known medical studies involving what I'm conviced of (idiopathic scoliosis/kyphosis related to hypersensitive SNS), I'm basically on my own LOL. Great video.
