Hmm, you might be onto something here. Now I remember I had the Destination Goa 4 compilation back then, it has "Subcouds - On Red" on it (and some other good tracks too). Those may have been at least partially the inspiration here :)

@@pauleye.official yes! on red, and that other one on phantasm 4 i think it was, space angel! also greenflow! DEFinitely some subcouds influence here. very very nice. i think you actually had a great shot on getting on phantasm at the time of 98. would love to hear your story on what happened, cause you got clear talent!

@@AboveEmAllProduction well, the very short story is that I hit a brickwall 25 years ago, and despite numerous tries, I've been unable to make (almost) any music of my own since then :/

Reading the comments, you say you haven't composed music since 1998? Sounds unbelievable. What are you doing all these years, even having discovered such a talent? (I agree that composing doesn't pay even part-time, but it's such a shame) Not asking in a "omg what r u doing wtf" but legit curious what path of life you chose to make that money?
@pauleye.official5 ай бұрын
I'm fairly sure that I didn't think of this as "discovering a talent". I was given a tool, and I was curious to see what I can do with it. I already had a musical background, so in that sense it didn't come right out of nowhere. As for the second question, I've been doing some occasional sound design since 2005, and DJing since 2010 (but I still see both as a hobby or labour of love, and neither pays my bills) and the rest of that answer concerns my private life which, to put it a bit bluntly, is none of anyone's business here :)

Thanks for sharing this, not the worst I listened to, however, I find the track a bland and uninspired, a catchy sample here and there ((like the "travelling without moving" from Dune)) or a tune (like in the "Teleport") only makes things better. I'm curious to hear your more recent goa trance tracks, however, your Bandcamp or KZbin list none.
@pauleye.official6 ай бұрын
Thanks for listening, even if you didn't seem to like it that much. And the unfortunate thing is, I don't have any more recent goa trance to offer than this (or much anything else for that matter). Yes, you read that right, I've been unable to make almost any music of my own in the past 25 years and I have no idea why.

@@pauleye.official I thought this was pretty good myself. They don't make goa like this anymore, sadly. Regarding the creative block, when I tried to go "professional", I tried to move away from trackers. It sucked, and my only saving grace was a MIDI tracker called ZTracker. Today, I still use ZTracker to sequence hardware, and I use Renoise to sequence audio samples. Have you thought about going back to trackers? Either use Impulse Tracker or something more modern like Renoise or Open MPT? It might get you back into recreational noise making!
@pauleye.official6 ай бұрын
I actually did mess around in Jeskola Buzz from late 1999 onwards, without ever really getting anywhere with it. I've been considering Renoise, or trying to do just something in Impulse Tracker or Schism Tracker for example, but getting into the mindset of "just sit down and try to do at least something, however terrible it might end up like" is easier said than done.
@FatSynthDude6 ай бұрын
@@pauleye.official To be fair though, Buzz is a beast of an application. (I never could make heads or tails out of it, though I loved the compositions other people came up with for it.) Just grab the Renoise demo and go to town. I bet it'll be a lot less terrible than you think, especially with features like multiple filters per instrument and giant effect chains per polyphonic channel. Only thing that sucks is that the keyboard shortcuts aren't the same as what was in the classic trackers, and even modifying key bindings, you never quite get all the editing features of the old stuff. If that causes problems, definitely go with Open MPT as it's a lot closer to old-school trackers.
