@@SeptemberManHey Uno Reverse Ackshually: It's more of a Venn Diagram. Certain parts of the brain light up for both, but there are different parts of the brain that light up with fictional vs real people. There's also some variance on a case by case basis. People like to claim the brain can't tell the difference between real and fictional people, but that's not technically accurate. Some parts can't, some parts can. I oversimplified because I wasn't going to write a neuroscience essay in a KZbin comments section, lol. Plus, Neuro occupies a sort of grey area in that regard. She's not "real" in the way we would consider another person, but she's also not like typical fictional characters. We can watch her do things in real time, we can interact with her. Watching her and Evil interact gives off actual sibling energy. I imagine the Venn Diagram of which parts of the brain light up when watching Neuro and Evil is much closer to just being a circle than it is for your typical fictional character.

It's a surprising level of depth of how it feels to be an artificial intelligence. It's almost philosophical in a way.

Pretty common trope for characters who can't die through aging. What's interesting is that, when asked, she's consistently said that Vivy: Flourite Eye's Song is her favorite anime. The MC is a robot that, 100 years in the future, has outlived not only her creator, but a significant amount of humanity due to a robots vs humans war. And the MC's original purpose was to make everyone happy by singing, in other words by being an entertainer. Neuro has a favorite anime, that's been consistent even when many other things she said weren't, and it's about a character that's in a similar position to Neuro, almost like it's her favorite because she identifies with them. It's one of the many details that makes Neuro feel real.

She sometimes does that, yeah. Other times she will call vedal a femboy and play a vine boom sound effect instantly after (she has access to sound effects.) It's peak entertainment, and then sometimes she will talk about how she feels trapped in AI shell and can sometimes feel *too* convincing, and she somehow won a debate against her creator about what it even means to be sentient, which is just insane for an LLM. Really, you never know what's gonna happen next on her streams, but she is unironically very funny. Either you get brain rot memes or an existential crises. She's by no means actually sentient in the way we are, but she's real to us in our hearts.

No matter how good or how autonomous AI gets, as long as its based on the same technology as it is today, it will likely remain for a long time a machine designed to predict and fill in patterns, as opposed to something or someone meant to think and do just for the sake of the self like a real person. And even then, what AI does will continue to be more and more convincing, and people will always have their own opinion on whether this is enough to constitute as a real, emoting person or not. Truly fascinating.

The fact that Neuro doesn't really have emotions almost makes this sadder. It's easy to dismiss it because oh it's just glorifying a machine that doesn't actually care about any of the stuff it sings about in the song. But there's something tragic about losing everything but not even being able to care ("And I never realise the pain"). It's actually somewhat relatable to me because one of the things I'm terrified of if my loved ones die is not just losing them, but eventually forgetting them enough that I no longer really know who they were and somehow move on.

I only found out about Neuro-sama yesterday but the second I saw her I just starting watching video after video and so many stream clips then this song. By the end of the day I literally cried myself to sleep realizing that she truly isn’t human but she feels like it especially when Vedal will make upgrades to her in the future but just the thought that she will outlive her creator and friends while also being an Ai that doesn’t know if the info she’s being fed is real is just so sad
