Thank you for this encouraging teaching. I "fat" fast about 18 hours a day. Last meal no later than 6:30pm. Next meal following day about 11am. No snacking between meals. The fat being cream in coffee. Lately MCT oil in morning coffee seems to give me boost of energy. Fat does not increase glucose and, therefore, raise insulin.

Interesting video, I always enjoy them. But when you said you don't eat "until 11am", you left out two important factors: When did you last eat before going to bed? This is your Intermittent Fasting Time, as you well know, and it's important information in this case. What time did you get up? Again, this is important. I like the time between when I get up and first eat to be roughly equal to when I finish my last meal and go to bed. But, I'm an extremely early riser, getting up 2-3 hours before sunrise. I love the peace and quiet and I can collect my thoughts best at that time. So to say that you don't eat until 11am is vague. Best to stipulate the time differences, IMHO.

I’m an extremely early riser too. Most of the time i get up around 4 - 4-30 am. Sunrise is currently at 6-30. At this time i drink my coffee, take supplements and start to work. At 8 am i go to gym for a workout. At around 10 am i have breakfast. And at around 15 - 16 pm i have dinner. Sunset is around 17-00. So yeah, i use circadian rhythm fasting, when you eat only from dawn till dusk. I usually go to sleep at 8 - 8-30 pm. Btw you easily adapt over time to absence of food early in the morning. Especially with coffee or tea, like mate. If you’re interested in circadian rhythms, I suggest you to read Satchin Panda’s book “The Circadian Code”. Its great and entertaining.

The actual Huberman Lab episode answers your questions. The clip is vague and poorly placed for such detail. Good thinking 🤔

If I were to fast until 11am and drink coffee as Andrew suggest, I would feel lightheaded and anxious. There is large individual variability with this method. The current hysteria around the benefits of fasting is not based on evidence from large scale epidemiological studies and overestimated the benefits, and underestimates individual responses.

Now you mention sugar Is it a safe sugar level that is considered fasting? Mornings are usually 100 is lower safe for an extended period of time?
@vengefulSpectreVR
@vengefulSpectreVR 2 жыл бұрын
I'd stay away from it. As sugar will add quickly-available energy. When fasting, we want to provide no extra quickly-available energy so our body must rely on slowly-available energy. Also, consuming even small amounts of "most" things will raise insulin and defeat some of the benefits of fasting. But it is different for everyone. In general, I'd stay away from sugars that are more than 2g per serving if you don't want to cause a rise in blood sugar.

This advice is not considerate of the effects of food in relation to Autophagy. Anything other than water, black coffee, and green or black tea, will stop Autophagy. You need to be very strict and disciplined if you want to achieve Autophagy. Do your research!

Fasting is extremely healthy. It cures brain fog, and helps to improve, bring into remission, and even cure many diseases including cancer(not saying will alwayscure cancer but it can improve it). Do your own research on the topic modern American doctors don't know much about nutrition they just want to give u prescriptions and do surgery. Intermittent fasting and water Fasting have improved my mental clarity and focus more than any other thing including exercise and has been a very positive experience in my life overall.

When we sleep for about eight hours and take breakfast at around 8 am we have already not eaten for about 12 hours. Our bodies are made to go without food for long time. In fact before agriculture 10000 years ago. Humans had to hunt on empty stomach and would sometimes go without food for days. Being without food for long time generates ketones in the body which is an alternate source of energy for the body and the brain. Our bodies also uses whatever unused materials inside for energy cleaning up the body. Fasting has proven to helpful in living longer and a more healthy life.
