I was one of the unsuspecting crowd goers who had no idea what I was about to witness and how 30 minutes could seriously change my life. Fuckin Neurosis, man! LIFE!!!!

Love Neurosis and not surprised Pantera and particularly Phil Anselmo held a flag for this great band
@kendrickjahn12619 жыл бұрын
andy owen Actually, Phil Anselmo holds a flag for many bands trying to get out there. He's done a lot for metal bands. Have you ever heard of his label, "Housecore Records?" If you pay attention, he knew bands all along, even back in the day. He used to wear "Crowbar" shirts, "EyehateGod" shirts, "Poison Idea," etc. His roots go deep. Many people have no idea. He still brings bands to the spotlight. He's currently working with a band called, "King Parrot."
@ponderingdesertrat68959 жыл бұрын
Kendrick Jahn Yeah. He deff "held a flag" for Exhorder when he stole their sound/style/image and transformed pantera, *a glam band*, into a major label ripoff version of Exhorder.
@kendrickjahn12619 жыл бұрын
Dingdonglong I don't see that he ripped off Exhorder. I'll listen more to some of that early stuff from Exhorder, but many bands have similarities without being rip-offs.

Actually Pantera ripped off Graveyard Rodeo when they transformed from glam to thrash. I know the guys personally and the inside info.

I met Neurosis in 89 on the Word As Law tour. Stayed in touch with them over the years, even stayed at The apartment under Dave Ed's place. We would see him just about every day we stayed in Oakland. I wish they would have done another album like Word As Law, but I think it's just how those guys write. They are constantly trying to upgrade the way they write with each record.

RANDALL FELTON Thing I find really incredible is all these people commenting on how "Down to earth they are". I've followed this band since that first single. These people were hardcore/punk rock musicians. They have a massive hardcore etc following. Ethically there are no rock stars. People in the underground who behave like rockstars are not well received. Speaking from experience it's ugly and pathetic. Unnecessary. 😊

saw em play live on Souls at zero Tour in 1991 in Oldenburg Germany (Sunset Bar, which had previously been a small trashy discotheque). Tiniest venue imaginable, and they were playing IN THE AUDIENCE / same level as audience because improvised stage was too small and had already collapsed under drums and Keyboards. Literally nobody in the audience knew much material of the Band prior to concert. Needless to say, religious experience. never have Seen so many jaws drop in my life, including mine.

Saw Neurosis at Hara Arena in Dayton, OH when they opened up for Pantera back in early 1997. Their set was unlike anything I'd ever seen. I immediately became a fan, and picked up a copy of "Through Silver and Blood" the following day. It still remains one of my favorite albums of all time. I saw them again later that summer on the second stage at during the infamous ill fated Ozzfest 97 show at Polaris Amphitheater in Columbus, OH. I had the opportunity to speak with both Scott and Dave Edwardson following their set. I was astonished to discover that a couple guys with such an intimidating stage presence we're so friendly and down to earth offstage. Speaking with them was the highlight of my day; even more so than ripping Polaris apart later that night when Ozzy was a no show, lol. I'm just glad they've kept it together all these years, and the music just keeps getting better.

I was at that show, Its funny cause before that I went to buzz at the cap ballroom which was one of the biggest raves in the country at that time. It was my 5th pantera show 2nd biohazard and 1st neurosis. Ive been to 1000s of shows and that particular show still stands out. Very awesome pit at that one. No fights that I saw and got picked up when fell from a crowd surf that led me into a circle pit

Many underground bands were pushed by Phil Anselmo - Crowbar, Eyehategod, Darkthrone or Satyricon. The brothers would have never came up with support bands like that. They would have chosen Kiss or ZZ top cover bands instead.

@@Swiatlocien Phil always spoke of them in interviews and wore their "Transilvanian hunger" shirts. He even got a demo of one of Darkthrones records, before it was recorded and told the metal press, that he liked it a lot. Anselmo was a fuckin billboard for underground music.

Johnny Land!!! Saw my first pair of Titties in real life during Pantera's set the night! She was on a dude's shoulders next to me and dumped 'em out, both of 'em! Perfect glass cutting, sand-dollar Nips, on this redheaded, stout, kinda heavy, sunbaked, biker woman in her good 40's! Haha, J/K....That was the first bigger venue metal (concert) show. I was completely soaked with beer and smelled like a pound of weed when my mom picked me up after the show!

My 5th pantera show 2nd biohazard show and 2nd neurosis show was capital ballroom in DC. Still one of the best shows ever. Weird thing about seeing pantera so many times is I never really listened to them a lot on album but had so much fun at the shows. I was more into crust at the time and knew neurosis from that scene. Anyway, at the time neurosis was heavily promoted in metal mags with that silver blood album. I mean full page advertisements so, its weird to me that more people at the time diddnt know them.

I'm pretty sure he is just pointing out that Neurosis is derivative as well. Their early stuff especially owes Amebix some debt. Their middle period stuff is pretty Crash Worship influenced. There are a bunch of other influences. They are good in that they don't wear them too evidently, as some acts do.
