I just got an 88m. It's incredible. Clipping the converters ever so slightly, with DI from the mpc is giving me an insane drum punch. I want this already, and am doing everything I can not to make a bad financial decision. I need to afford food, too....

How can you do that without inserting a compressor? I thought that was the whole thing with the 88m

You redline the drums by 1-2 db, making sure the tone stays pleasant

@@i.shadrin Dont need AD/DA, doubt you could even fit that in a similar size 500 series unit, and if they did it would be considerably more expensive. This unit does not have ADDA. Just want this exact product in 500 series - if you want conversion in 500 series there are already options

Nope. It only gets power via USB 3, you can use it as an insert on any channel device, including an interface that has insert points.

The USB C port is used only to provide power to the unit. This allows for a simple, quick connection directly to a computer, or to a powered USB Hub. However, the 88C can be combined with the 88M USB audio interface for the ideal preamp/compressor tracking solution.

@@Hexspa People think that USB-C is the same weak connector as Micro and Mini USB, which it isn't. It also defeats the entire desktop thing if it wasn't USB-C as USB-C can deliver much more power and thus can be ran from a computer.

USB3 bus power provides an ideal power source for the 88C, enhancing portability and connectivity in a number of situations, especially when pairing the 88C with the 88M for mobile recording.
