The most annoying part of Neve’s romance is that it has all the parts of a great love story but it is missing so much. Why is Neve afraid of a relationship with Rook beyond her and Rook having dangerous jobs? Aelia could have been a great foil to Neve’s intimacy issues if Aelia had been a past lover or even a friend. Neve’s romance (and all others) are lacking in depth.

The game got scrapped several years into development, they lost many writers and other key members of staff. A lot of people forget that when they criticize this game. Not saying criticism isn’t valid only that maybe we should be more compassionate and understanding in gaming culture especially when it’s not always the devs/creative staff’s fault. The gaming industry culture is the true root of most gaming issues

@hellodelightfulrando many critics of the game are in fact fans of Dragon Age. They are emotional because they loved it and feel betrayed. I wanted to enjoy the Veilguard and I am truly sad that I can't. Do you really think it gives us pleasure to have a broken heart? As for Neve, I agree with OP. Her romance could be great but since we know almost nothing about her and her inner demons, it feels shallow. I can't ask her about her leg, her family, her regrets. But I could ask all these question to Cassandra from the previous game. She told me about the Seekers, her brother, her difficult relationship with her clan. She has dialogues about faith, hers and yours. Then we help her to deal with the truth about her order. After some denial and doubt she confesses about her desires in romance and her fear. She doesn't believe you instantly and you should prove yourself. There are many stages in her romance and relationship. And now imagine all of this with Neve. Hell, it would be magnificent. Done differently, sure, but we could discover Neve's depth and layers of her personality step by step. I feel sorry for problems Bioware had but constructive criticism is what both they and the game community need. Without "lol, this game has non-binary characters, close the studio immediately!!11". It's not a decent critique. I didn't like how they handled Taash's problem but ironically I found myself enjoying their character- they have flaws, they are rude, immature and this at least resembles a living person. But Neve? No. She claims herself cynical but she is sweet and polite with everyone, even calling herself Bellara's sister. She speaks flatly as if she has burnout but no matter what happens she becomes the protector of Minrathous. Who are you, Neve? Definitely not a cynical person. Then why do you pretend to be one? Let's explore this side of you? No? Okay:( And this came from the studio which let us leave Cullen a drug-addict, kill Bull's friends and completely destroy Cassandra's ties to her beloved Chantry, lol.

​@@hellodelightfulrando I paid 60 euro for this game and have been invested in this series for over 10 years. I am well aware of Biowares issues and mourn the loss of the writers (Mary Kirby, my love) and devs that left or got fired. Biowares rocky history does not excempt them from valid criticism of their product that I paid for.
