Thanks for this as I am teaching about Nevelson this week in my art history course, and may be making a similar one to yours soon. I think we all owe a lot to Joseph Cornell!

I love the old assemblage masters .They pioneered an art form, that was not excepted easily .I love Cornell's style and the elements he uses. Making this Nevelson inspired piece was a lot of fun. Give it a go too. Good luck with your course.: ) Thank you very much Karen.

Hi andrea. I made a box like one of your tutorials with all kind of stuff from my 3 children. First painted it black and then some metallic paste. It turned out great and i am actually quite proud of it. Thank you for your inspiration

This looks beautiful again, although I probably would not have managed to black out everything. It really tempts me to bring out the structures with metallic waxes. 😁❤👍 LG vom Tinchen
@InaSolsberyartroom5 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much Tinchen. You know that I usually also like the mixed media approach, but this piece was meant to be close to Nevelson's style, monochromatic. She used spray paints too. : )

Thanks so very much Kim. In its artistic sense, it came into being in the early 1950s, , but ..... the general idea goes probably way back..human nature likes to arrange things in a pleasing matter. LOL Please check your e mail. See you soon too. Hugs

I was wondering when I saw the pic which paint you have used because it looked so smooth. Yes, spray paint was the best option, it is definitely part of the look and style. Very unusual but really interesting piece, normal paint definitely wouldn`t have worked here. Clever twist with the white space.
@InaSolsberyartroom5 жыл бұрын
Thanks o much Andrea. Even Nevelson used spray paint ,that's how her pieces are so smooth. I love her assemblages, Wish I could work that big. But.. I also love my small stuff and mixed media with it is surely my cup of tea. But this was really fun to work on. : )

I am shocked that you didn't paint it by hand -- what would Nevelson say? :-) I'm sure it was a better use of your time, and gave very even coverage as you said. Even though the piece looks more like metal than wood, I like it very much, especially with the silhouette focal point.
@InaSolsberyartroom5 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much Gail. I hope Nevelson would be pleased,she was one of the early artists using spray paints, that's how her pieces are so smooth. I am glad you like my little twist with the silhouette. : )
