The difference is you take Luka off the mavs they win 20 games and pick top 5, you take Tatum off the Celtics and they still are the first seed and go to the finals lmao

I am the person having the conversation about Tatum vs luka. Not because I’m putting Tatum up, but I’m bringing Luka down. His defense is so ridiculously bad. He’s a literal cone out there getting targeted every possession. And his offense is really fucking good until his horrible turnovers start the runs for the Celtics. Tatum isn’t as good of a scorer but he’s so much better defensively.

Tatum top 5 ahead of who though? Luka, Jokic, giannis, embiid, lebron, Curry? I don’t think he’s better than any of those guys and he’s moreso of a top 10 guy like Mitchell or Booker even though his Versatility makes it easier for him to impact winning than other guys

Like any top 5 level player is the undisputed number one on their team and can drag their team to the playoffs single-handedly through monstrous offensive production, or a mix of elite offense and elite Defense like AD and Giannis. Tatum just isn’t that level of offensive talent imo and isn’t really a dpoy caliber talent either although he’s elite at defense anyways

Even Jimmy butler during his last couple of playoff runs didn’t actually have an insane jumper or elite handle, he was just an elite slasher/pull up floater guy who hits the open shots he gets while being an amazing defender. I don’t think Jimmy was ever seen as universally top 5 and he was even better than Tatum is rn with a worse offensive cast around him. I just can’t feel bad for Tatum unless someone thinks Jaylen brown is better. Cause he is an elite player on the cusp of being a superstar but he lacks tier one scoring and tier one play making which you kinda need to be one.

Joel needs to make it to a conference finals, before id put him there. Also more to being great than just being able to score also need to be able to show up. You could average 50 but if you only play 20 games who gives a shit.

He’s personally dominated Embiid over and over in the playoffs. Bron and Curry are reaching the end and have lost some juice. His all around game put him top 5 he’s just definitely a tier help the top 3.

@@ValleyBoysSportsNetwork I mean I guess I understand the age argument but I feel like people use it negatively against bron and curry to say that Tatum is younger so he’ll just be better soon, and that hasn’t been the case so far. Maybe next season but idk. Also if you personally don’t like embiid fine but SGA has also shown to be an almost unstoppable force against the Mavs too. I’d say sga and Tatum are fighting for the 5 spot and I think SGA as of Rn is just a little better
