Farming Life at La Forge

Жыл бұрын

In today's episode of farming life at la forge, our toyota hilux bought in only 2018 with 60k hours on it has already brokedown and needs a clutch replaced. I am in my workshop with an upholstering course getting a chair ready for my first lesson, and I am very happy with the results. Ah we have had rain, and the grass is growing we are going to be moving some of our cows with the spring calves on them into new fields.

The clutch probably went because of half clutching while towing the trailer , we have a hilux and a landcruiser and they are very highly geared for towing a trailer , when you are reversing a trailer you should put them in the low range

You could always warp the pressure plate on a landcruiser or a hilux within seconds but the clutch could take a bit of abuse. I saw a new 05 landcruiser months old with a rubble in the clutch, when back to Toyota, warped pressure plate, don't bother fixing it you will warp it again reversing up a hill unloaded etc. A jeep is for towing

Hello all, well even I would be upset about that clutch going so soon. Toyota are supposed to be 99.9% bomb proof. Thank goodness it wasn’t during harvest or silaging - that’s when unusual breakdowns occur here! Great job though, your lifetime mechanic skills saved the day (and a lot of money) once again. Cattle look well and you have far more grass than we do so far. I have made my mind up to reduce numbers this winter as silage is short and it’s going to be a long tough winter here on my own. Laura, great work on the “Editors” chair, you did look very comfortable sitting in it - almost like “The Director” giving out the instructions. Was Emily on an electric bike, lovely smiles as she rode in 🤣🤣🤣. Trying to work out if I can slip over to the show in Clermont at the beginning of October - less than a 50% chance I fear! Take care, be happy and keep smiling please. Richard x

@@thetessellater9163 i wonder what the Amarok is like have a few mates with them, but none tow, id a T5 transporter and it did near 300k on original clutch and only reason it was done then was cos stone smashed gearbox housing. Sold it at 405k still running original untouched engine and turbo. Think the older toyota are definitely alot stronger than the newer ones.

60k and the clutch gone, that is quick indeed even more for a car like a hilux! my 2001 peugeot partner got a new clutch at 190k and i thought that was early. As my parents 2000 VW t4 was sold with 320k and had it;s original clutch still, and that was on a horsebox 2 times a week. They did make cars drivelines a bit heavier back in the day i guess..
