Did you know that British actress Jenny Agutter has been active in show business for more than half a century? What are some of your favorite roles that Jenny Agutter has played and are you excited to see her upcoming film The Railway Children Returns? Let us know in the comments.
Agutter just recently turned 69, and she's looking pretty good for her age. But then again, she's always been beautiful. In this video, we'll be taking a look at several never-before-seen photos of Jenny Agutter in her prime. These rare historical photos aren't exactly appropriate for history books.
Agutter rose to fame as a child actress appearing in offerings like 1964s East of Sudan, 1968s Star! and most notably in two adaptations of the Edith Nesbit children's book The Railway Children. In 1971, she won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Actress in a Drama for her role in the television film The Snow Goose. That same year, she appeared in the critically acclaimed film Walkabout.
After moving to the United States in 1974 in order to pursue a career in Hollywood, Agutter appeared in the blockbuster 1976 film Logan's Run. She followed that role up with appearances in films such as 1981s Amy, 1982s An American Werewolf in London, and 1990s Child's Play.
While enjoying a successful acting career in America, Agutter continued to star in high-profile British films like 1976s The Eagle Has Landed, 1977s Equus, and 1979s The Riddle of the Sands.
In the early 90s, she moved back to Britain to focus on her family life. She then shifted away from films and started making television appearances. After starring in the 2000 TV adaptation of The Railway Children, Agutter continued to steadily work in British drama series.
Since 2012, she's been the star of the hit BBC primetime series Call the Midwife. That same year, she returned to Hollywood to appear in The Avengers. She reprised her role in the 2014 film Captain American: The Winter Soldier. Her later film The Railway Children Returns is expected to hit theaters sometime this year.

Not only is she a great actress but is also a really nice person too, I live in Cornwall, uk I used to volunteer for a local charity shop and would go out with the charities van to pick up donations, we got called out to jenny's place and she virtually emptied her garage of really nice things to fill the van, we then visited all the charities shops in Cornwall spreading the items out, at least a thousand pounds worth of donations in total, but the best bit was walking around with her as she was saying "oh, take that as well" to most of the items, my favourite memory of all from working with the charity ( it was called St Julia's hospice, in Hayle)

As a long time admirer of the British actress Jenny Agutter (pronounced Agg-utter not A-gutter) I admired her during Walkabout and Logan's Run (1976 - not 1967 as per the narration). I also enjoyed The Railway Children and An American Werewolf in London. I would like to have seen her in more films etc but they have been fewer than desired. Recognition of her abilities beyond that of 'female fluff' in Logan's Run and the Werewolf films is finally coming to fruition in Call the Midwife. Better late then Never it seems.

@@ianraper4304 Well, they got millions of subs, so I think they wouldn't care much. MKuch like the Dark Docs/Skies/Space people who churn 'em out too with no sense of basic facts. By the way, I often wonder about this. Since you wanted to see the Jenny Agg Ooter video, you might have a thought... Not that I meet many actors. Did see Kiefer Sutherland though, in the lobby of my hotel in Singapore once - wee little fella he was too! So, if I met Jenny Ag-Utter, now that she is an "older lady," shall we say, should I feel some embarrassment that I lusted (still do to a degree) after her? Especially now she reminds me of nuns? Would it be bad form to mention she had a great ass, was hot and I'd do her (would have)? Lol.

Have always admired her and her work. I saw The Railway Children in the US when I was a child and loved it. She was also very good, and beautiful in The Eagle Has Landed and Logans Run. It's really a shame though that one of her truly best roles is unavailable; The Snow Goose. I was lucky enough to catch it in it's only US broadcast in the 70's and have never forgotten it. From what I've read the author, Paul Gallico who is now deceased, forbade it's release in any format after the initial broadcast. I have no idea why but he has deprived the world of a beautiful film.

My High School showed Walkabout in a class assembly in the auditorium back in ......gonna say..... '83? I immediately went home and did all the research I could in the non-internet era about Australia. Jenny Agutter is a solid part of my cultural upbringing.

In 1984 I spent some time in her company one evening, at a last- night party in a West end theatre. I can't remember how we got talking, but I do remember telling her the tale of how I, and my best mate from school, aged about 12-13, spent an entire train journey from London to Brighton, having seen her in the buffet car, both trying to pluck up the courage to speak to her (this was in about 1972). We arrived in Brighton, still immobile with shyness, and the object of our adoration slipped away, unaware. She found it hilarious, and so did I from that distance in time. All I know is she was very easy to talk to, both of us finding the party rather strained and dire. She really was lovely. Still is.

Always loved Jenny Agutter, she was our quintessential English rose. Walkabout was an amazing film. Nicholas Roeg managed to include otherwise controversial content without sleaze. It was also an amazing insight into Aboriginal life with it's juxtaposition of modern life into, without the young Aboriginal, un-survivable wilderness, although the character played by Jenny and her Brother, played by Roeg's own son, were never more than a few miles from their modern world.

You’d probably pass out at the English pronunciations of American names…or French, or German, or Cherokee…then again being a superior fool, maybe you’d not. Being a big fan I never had a problem with her name…just never tried to make a fool of someone in lieu of correcting them. Now, I wonder if you can pronounce my surname correctly…in English/American it’s spelled differently than in the original German spelling…due to the lack of a letter in English.

I remember her from Logan's Run but it was her role in American Werewolf in London that really attracted me to her. It wasn't any stunning beauty but just the dominance and independence that character showed. I wanted to meet someone like her. :-) When I first saw her in Civil War, I couldn't recognize her. She wasn't from the gutter she was Jenny Agutter. Although in some cult films such as Logans Run and The Railway Children, and Walkabout, I have always felt her beauty and talent was largely overlooked in Hollywood. She was just used as floss in Hollywood such as on An American Werewolf in London. But now on British television she has shown her talent has not diminished in 'Call the midwife' and the soon to be released and long awaited Railway Children sequel. Her beauty was comparable with Jane Seymour and when I was young I used to get them mixed up, as both beautiful, lithe, ' English rose' actresses.( Although Jane Seymour origins are actually Polish) I think if she had stayed in Britain Jenny would never have been off our screens, but later in life she has now regained some of that love.❤
