Hey everyone, I just wanted to add a quick safety note regarding this video. In one of the clips, I cut open a battery, which can be dangerous if not done properly. Please be aware that attempting to cut open a battery yourself can result in injury or damage to your property. If you're an experienced DIYer and must handle batteries, always wear protective gloves and eyewear, and dispose of them safely. For those who are new to this, a safer option is to first open the end of the battery and empty its contents, then cut it open. Please remember to always exercise caution and follow proper safety protocols when handling batteries. Stay safe and enjoy the video! please follow the main video for schematic and all detail kzbin.info/www/bejne/rXPdgGWPhNmheLM

@InnovaDIY
@InnovaDIY Жыл бұрын
All batteries, including ordinary ones, can be potentially dangerous if punctured. When a battery is punctured, it can cause a short-circuit, which may lead to an explosion or fire.Lithium batteries with a built-in safety circuit, also known as protection circuit modules (PCMs), can provide an additional layer of protection against overcharging, over-discharging, and short-circuiting. These safety circuits are designed to monitor the battery's voltage and temperature and cut off the power flow if any of these values exceed safe levels. watch the video and all safety design kzbin.info/www/bejne/rXPdgGWPhNmheLM

ZnMn (alkaline) non-rechargeable batteries contain zinc, manganese dioxide & potassium hydroxide. Zinc is "mostly harmless". Manganese dioxide is a strong oxidizing agent but- it's not very active. Potassium hydroxide is caustic. Yes these are "toxic", the same sense as laundry detergent, bleach, drain-cleaner and motor oil. The excess fears ppl have over common chemicals reminds me of school-children screaming "stranger danger". MOST things on this planet are "toxic", but just use common sense; eye protection and gloves.

To add to everything been said, tp4056 is just charging ic, there is no protections, especially overdischarge protection. So you battery will probably go under safe voltages before device that uses it will stop working and since you used linear voltage regulator, it has standby current of about 2mA, so even when you are not using the battery, it will overdischarge in a few days. This will quickly kill capacity of battery you used.

I've always wanted to do this or something similar. Like even more fundamental such as a clock spring inside a battery driving a really small generator, you wind up the clock spring by twisting the battery top for unlimited portable off-grid power.

I really love the PCB less recreation of tp4056 charging. Unlike other crappy DIYers that just connect the battery to usb directly or add up a resistor

Good for people who like to do this stuff for fun. But a rechargeable AA battery would be best. You had to use a rechargeable battery anyways to make it. And it's not safe to cut a battery.

Cutting through an alkaline battery can pose risks, but typically not a risk of fire. Alkaline batteries contain potassium hydroxide, a caustic agent that can leak out if the battery casing is compromised. This substance can cause chemical burns to skin or damage if it comes into contact with your eyes. However, while alkaline batteries are less likely to catch fire when damaged compared to lithium-ion batteries, it's still important to handle them properly to avoid short circuits, which can lead to overheating. But generally, the primary risk with cutting into an alkaline battery would be the potential for chemical leakage rather than fire. It's best to avoid cutting, puncturing, or otherwise damaging any battery to prevent potential hazards.

Sim, é mais fácil comprar uma bateria recarregável, mas eu vejo nesse vídeo uma demonstração de que é possível fazer uma bateria recarregável com os componentes apresentados por curiosidade ou para quando precisar um dia em caso de necessidade.

No heavy metal found inside that battery. Zinc is lightweight metal and is needed for your normal body function. Same for potassium and manganese. Ammonia and chloride aren't metals but not that dangerous (literally they are salts). Carbon is nontoxic.

This won't work longer as the voltage regulator will keep draining the battery all the time. Hence even if left unused, it needs to be recharged before every use.
