Timing could not be better. For the last few years, I have battled SO MANY pests with lettuce/cabbage/choys, etc in my in-ground beds - and have been pondering whether containers (on my deck as well as inside) might be a better approach. I know it won't be a 100% - but still may provide more successful outcomes. Your video just convinced me. Thank you!

I am in zone 9b, low AZ Desert and all the lettuce I recently planted bolted because we are still too warm. Getting ready to start them again!

I'm in zone 4B and grew good lettuce last year in my basement with lights as a test and turned out good, was just thinking of starting again in a couple days to be growing something already.

I grow lettuce in old gallon milk jugs cut down to just 4" just fine. Plant some and try it

I'm going to try this using the winter sewing method so you're making like a greenhouse out of it I think it'll work well.

Oh yeah!! The news is always buzzing with news of e.coli and listeria on lettuce greens.

I love the seedlings plugs and trays I purchased when you had your sale. I just love how sturdy they are.
@MIgardenerСағат бұрын
They’re so much easier to use than the flimsy trays.

I have been growing lettuce indoors for 4 years last month. I have not bought it since I started but I grow in in Kratky Passive hydroponic totes. I can't think of growing outside again. HA I am eating a big dinner salad and have Crisp Mint and Amish Deer Tongue mixed.
@DawnMaria-814 сағат бұрын
I grow Kratky hydroponic lettuce too! I do think that the lettuce tastes better when it grows outside in the garden but, during the winter, the kratky lettuce is better than store-bought.
@dawns.249212 сағат бұрын
@@DawnMaria-8 I learned years ago if you don't like the taste change the variety same with tomatoes. Much cleaner than outside with birds crapping all over it lol

Question: Which Promix do you use? There are so many choices! I used Promix GardenMix for my raised beds and had great success.
@nancygrant965210 сағат бұрын
My question as well.

I love ProMix, but sadly my last bag is full of fungus gnats. I am using boiling water to kill them (before I use it to plant or seed). I excited to plant your seeds - bought a bunch. Happy New Year!

I haven't had luck growing lettuce during the summer. It's too hot here in northern Utah. Our window box and greenhouse get too hot to be able to grow inside.

Great tips, but I am not in control of the budget. I had a stroke and I can't do much of anything. I know how to grow lettuce, I just don't have the space with two cats in an apartment. It is difficult to grow anything in an apartment. I have a heat mat and I still grow mold not lettuce. I am just going to wait for Summer where everything grows, without control of the budget. LOL
