Never Do Push Ups Like This - Avoid These 4 Mistakes
While push ups are a basic bodyweight move, I think they are one we often take for granted.
And all too often we do a more advanced variation than we’ve actually earned.
That’s why today I want to share 4 common form mistakes I see and how to correct them!

100% thank you. I have ‘golfers elbow’ and thought pushups were impossible to do since it hurts my elbow like a rubber band is going to snap. But when you said to keep your hands flat and don’t rock out (a previous video), I noticed I did that. I corrected it yesterday and experienced zero pain in my elbow. 👍

No one has EVER been this detailed it absolutely appreciated and needed, finally someone recorded from above to ACTUALLY see what our hand placement should be. I get so frustrated with not having the security in my form to FOCUS on the execution of the move and normally just uncomfortable and to weak to lift.

I’ve watched loads of videos on press-up form. I’m 51 and do reps of 40-30-20-10 for a neat 100. Seems to be keeping an older man in ok shape, but this video was very informative re form, far better than the usual 20yr old lads trying to make out how smashing they are. Thanks for the video. I’ve subscribed. Good luck for future 😁

I wasn't able to do a push-up for the past 20 years. I knew that I had my form correct when everything hurt like hell for the first time! 🤣 happily to say after a few days of of planking and 45° back extensions, I was able to bust out ten by the end of that first week.🏆💯 now (3 months later) I can crank out at least 30, but it still hurts like hell! hopefully by next year I can be at 100.

I worked up on some pushup challenge until could do 3 sets of 100. Then about 3-4 months after the challenge (with daily pushups) my shoulders got an injury. I changed my form and I can do less but I am less interested in the count now. This all seems like great advice. I was doing the T-form she said at the beginning of the video. It took about 6-7 months but inevitably I got an injury.

If you have shoulder problems/injury you can do a pushup if you try to keep your elbows close to your body. That helped me alot after I injured my shoulder and had to rehab it by hanging and doing these types of pushups

Very detailed video Cori. I realised that I had been rocking my hands a bit. Is this the reason why I don't feel much tension on my chest? I feel it more on my triceps and shoulders. And do we need to stop just before our chest touches the ground or slightly touch the ground? What would be the most efficient full range of motion in this case?

very good info... I want to say I dont do the calf stretch type thing. I did 80 pushups in a minute at the police academy 20 years ago. my brother was army and deputy sheriff and he hit 96 in a minute but his max reps were 113.. pushups are great.. I only do gymnastics pushups off rings and raise my feet every set till my feet are about 5 feet in the air..

As I have vulnerable wrists, I highly recommend using pushup bars or (stable, not entirely round) dumbells. This allows your wrists to work as if a barbel was placed properly on your palm. Believe me, I have never experienced wrist pain again.

The cue that the push up is a moving plank was a lightbulb moment for me. Seems so obvious, but I never considered it that way. I struggle so much with push ups and the mind-muscle connection with the chest. I am definitely overloading the shoulders. Thanks for the quality content. I have been told over and over again that the T is the right arm position, and it just never made sense to me to make the lever that long. Arrow is a much better cue. Thank you!!
