On December 9th 2011, Brandon Roy announced plans to retire from the game of basketball. Not only was Brandon a continuing source of inspiration both on and off the court, he is also a personal hero of mine. Brandon, thank you for all of your hard work and the countless unforgettable memories you have given to the city of Portland and basketball fans around the world. You will truly be missed from the game.

It's so FUCKING sick and it FUCKING sucks to see him retire that early. He's so nice to the fans and every one around him. I have never seen such politeness and manner on a NBA player before. His work ethic and mental toughness will overshadow anyone in the history of the league. I can think off a second Austrian can come back from a knee-surgery in 10 days and play in the playoffs. I can't imagine another player lead to a 23-point comeback playing with one knee. If blazers don't retire his jersey, I will fucking hate that organization.

Shit Rose scored 50 his first time after Injury so we can at least say We saw Rose play a longer career than expected but Sadly we were robbed of both Roy and Rose prime due to the knee injuries.

Best fans in the NBA. Not saying that because I have lived in Portland my entire life, but because they truly are the best fans you'll ever meet. We dedicate and are patient through all trades/heartbreaks. Brandon was like a breath of fresh air to the Blazer organization. That playoff game last year was simply amazing. I've never seen someone do what he did in that game, not even Jordan. It was just a miracle and a reason I love watching basketball.

The way he ended his post season should be enough for them to retire his jersey.... Most amazing 4th quarter comeback ever and all on him. A fire of passion was lit in his heart that made him rise beyond his injuries and to make big plays in the 4th quarter. This will forever be remembered in history. Maxa you make the best videos ever. I hope you never retire as well. If you ever do i'll retire your jersey for you because to me you are a legend.

I started watching Basketball when i was 11, when Roy was a rookie. NBA to me was Brandon Roy. Seeing him leave is heartbreaking. Roy was more then just a player to me, he was an idol. Through all the pain & hate that he would get, he turned out to be one of the best players to play the game in just 5 years. Doing things that most people can't. There will never be another Player that is as great, on and off the court. Thank you for being more then just another NBA player. #RetireB-RoysJersey

It's really not fair, his career being so short. In just 5 short years, he has provided soooo many memories for us Blazer and NBA fans. And to think that he has had knee issues since high school.....think about what he would've been like with healthy knees and a full career. WOW. I almost feel selfish saying that watching him for the past 5 seasons wasn't enough. Brandon Roy is and will always be a special player and person for the Portland Trailblazers. I will never forget you, #7.
