BTFB The Duck buddy, rub up on some grammar. ‘Doesn’t’ is present tense, which means he is saying Lindsey no longer needs FM. He is not saying that he never needed them because if that was the case he would have used the word ‘didn’t.’

And where would Fleetwood Mac have been if he hadn't joined them? Also, Mick Fleetwood only wanted Lindsay but he wouldn't join without Stevie Nicks. They together made Fleetwood Mac a super band. But Lindsay knew how to produce Stevie's songs and made them extra special. And yes, someone like Lindsay would have eventually made it as he was already recording and on his way.

True - but he was responsible for entire Fleetwood Mac songs and entire albums. Without him they would not have happened or be what they are. I saw FM on October 6th at United Center - they still played songs he took the lead on and wrote - namely Go Your Own Way and The Chain. Also Lindsey did a lot of work on Rumors - the best selling Fleetwood Mac album ever. Also - don't forget - Fleetwood Mac just didn't replace Lindsey - they had to replace him with two people - Lindsey is equivalent of multile talented musicians - a guitarist, singer, song writer, and a production guy. Also - let's not forget who brought Stevie to Fleetwood Mac - Lindsey told Mick - you need to take me and my girlfriend - we come as a package. Without Lindsey there would be no Fleetwood Mac. Lindsey seems like a low key guy - doesn't get the spot light - musically he's as (maybe more) valuable than Stevie- the thing is though Stevie is more the face of Fleetwood Mac. When you say Fleetwood Mac most people think of Stevie. While the concert (on the 6th at United Center with FM) was ok it wasn't the same without Lindsey. He does stuff on the guitar that Mike Campbell can't/didn't. Also, on songs like The Chain he brings the darkness and emotion that that song requires and the rage that goes along with Go Your Own Way. The current lineup can't reproduce what he does.

@@ethanreed8400 Different guitar styles. LB is a finger picker in the travis style, more often seen in country and folk music. Campbell is a straight ahead play with a pick blues/rock guitar player, which is why he struggles to play LB's guitar parts properly on some tunes and why he doesn't really fit in musically. Guitar players aren't interchangeable !! I once saw an interview with Peter Green, one of my heroes and a way better blues player than any of his contempories IMHO, and he said he couldn't play like "the new guy", as he called Lindsey.

The most damning thing about the whole drama surrounding Lindsey & Fleetwood Mac lately is the fact that Lindsey, who still performs like this at age 69, was ousted by a Woman whose voice is now a shadow of what it once was. That, plus the fact that Stevie Nicks wouldn't even have been in the band in the 1st place, had it not been for Lindsey's insistence that if he joined, his girlfriend must too. Stevie owes most of her fortune & fame, quite literally, to that man, on that stage, with that guitar & with all that talent that he STILL HAS at 69. She would do well to remember that.
@RobBaartwijk
@RobBaartwijk 5 жыл бұрын
Nice thought but I have the feeling that Lindsey considered FM somewhat of a nice side gig the last decades. I can understand that but I can then also understand that McVie and Fleetwood don't consider that enough. And by the way ; it was Fleetwood Mac who made Lindsey Buckingham world famous, not the other way around. Fleetwood Mac was already terribly famous before "the unhappy couple" joined them. Also : after 40+ years who really cares eh? ;)
@n7_bash
@n7_bash 5 жыл бұрын
@@RobBaartwijk I respectfully disagree. Fleetwood Mac may well have been more "Renowned", shall we say, than Lindsey & Stevie were as "Buckingham/Nicks" at that time when they joined. But Fleetwood Mac would most likely have never have hit the heady heights that they did with Rumours Album had those 2 never joined. They were the missing piece of the Fleetwood Mac puzzle. It worked both ways. Lindsey & Stevie joining is intimately what launched Fleetwood Mac into a global powerhouse with the 1st Fleetwood Mac album (The White Album) they did together. They then got launched into the stratosphere with the Rumours Album. Neither Fleetwood Mac or Buckingham/Nicks would have enjoyed that kind of success had they not found each other the way they did.
@RobBaartwijk
@RobBaartwijk 5 жыл бұрын
@@n7_bash Yeah, and that album was conceived under very stressful conditions. Among other things because Nicks slept with Fleetwood after she broke up with Lindsey. And You make loving fun was Christine's song, Dreams was Stevie, and I could go on. Yes; Lindsey wrote the fantastic Go your own way. As I said in another reply : The Green Manalishi, Something Inside Of Me, Oh Well, Man of the world, Black magic woman, Need your love so bad. All written and hits when Stevie and Lindsey were just dreaming of making it big time. I do not diss Lindsey and Stevie, I just find it completely incorrect that people seem to assume that Fleetwood Mac's success started with those two people. In the USA perhaps, but Fleetwood Mac was incredibly famous in the rest of the world way before that. And I take it that you know the story of how Buckingham/Nicks joined Fleetwood Mac, right ? :) And Lindsey Buckingham is a fantastic guitar player who was in a band for longer than most marriages last. So this is just life. In this case he lost my sympathy somewhat when he claimed 12 million dollars because he now misses that tour. Like we didn't pay him enough in royalties and tickets so far. He doesn't need the money so this is just spite. But sure; good response, I can get along with that.
@n7_bash
@n7_bash 5 жыл бұрын
@@RobBaartwijk Yes sir, Fleetwood Mac were indeed famous before Buckingham & Nicks & a damn fine band too, to boot. I like, nay love, songs from most of the various Fleetwood Mac incarnations that there have been (barring the Bekka Bramlett non-entity days), over the 50 years since they were first formed. But, THE Fleetwood Mac is the fab 5 of Mick, John, Christine, Lindsey & Stevie. I think this is rightfully how it should be viewed, due to the incredible success they have had & the immense creativity & many hits that they have produced together. As for Lindsey, I think you are understating his value a little. He is more than just a damn fine Guitarist & Vocalist. He is the guy in the studio too, doing the work producing & meticulously working away on Christine's & Stevie's tracks, as much as his own, all to make sure that they got the sound just right for each song. In that pursuit, it has been well documented that he was a workaholic & borderline obsessive in his perfectionism to achieve the desired results. And that is for EVERY Fleetwood Mac Album that he has worked on since joining the band. None of the other band members have spent anywhere near as much time in the studio doing the real donkey's work of putting albums & tracks together the way Lindsey has over the years. This, alongside his sublime Guitar playing, song-writing & vocal contributions, whether as lead or backing vocalist. There are even some tracks where he has played drums, bass, lead guitar, rhythm guitar & lead & backing vocals on them ('Big Love' is all his own work). He also pulled the band through their Tango in the Night Album when Stevie was in rehab for drug addiction, shortly before then leaving them before the following tour of that album. Out of the 5 regular band members, I would say he is a good 40% of what made the band go on to what they became. I deduce this by taking 100%, divide that by the 5 & you get 20% each but then give 5% of the others 20% to Lindsey, for all the vast production work he has put into all the tracks/albums over the years. The others together, make up the other 60% of the band, 15% each I would say. As for him suing them, I say good luck to him. He has put more effort into turning Fleetwood Mac into the global phenomenon that they became than the others (though they have contributed massively too) and for them to just turn around & oust him at the drop of a hat like they have, after he was the one doing the running to get that tour off the ground in the first place, is despicable. Stevie point blank refused to make a new album with them, hence the reason we got a Buckingham/McVie titled album, even though it was essentially the work of the other 4 band members of Fleetwood Mac. Why should she be still in the band & getting paid when she wanted no part of a new album or new tour, until last year when it was decided it would be going ahead? And why should Lindsey, the one who pushed for all that to happen, be the one out of the band & out of pocket for it?
@n7_bash
@n7_bash 5 жыл бұрын
@@RobBaartwijk To summarise, if you take Albums made since just before & after Lindsey & Stevie joined, you get the personality of each Fleetwood Mac incarnation :- 'Heroes are hard to find' is what Fleetwood Mac were just before Buckingham/Nicks joined. 'Fleetwood Mac - The White Album' is what they become when Buckingham/Nicks join. 'Rumours' is Fleetwood Mac when they are in dire turmoil & in a living soap opera, but also pulling together & performing at their now legendary best. 'Tusk' is Fleetwood Mac when they are in the full grip of drugs & alcohol now, with Lindsey being allowed to cut loose & experiment with things. 'Mirage' is what Fleetwood Mac are when they are still doing drugs & Buckingham & Nicks are in the band only part-time, whilst they are distracted by Solo Projects. 'Tango in the Night' is what Fleetwood Mac is when Stevie Nicks is barely present & the band is in a full blown drug/alcohol addiction, whilst Lindsey takes over the band production almost singlehandedly. 'Behind the Mask' is Fleetwood Mac without Lindsey Buckingham anymore. 'Time' is Fleetwood Mac without Stevie Nicks or Lindsey Buckingham & with Christine McVie being forced to take part against her real wishes. 'Say You Will' is Fleetwood Mac when Christine is no longer part of the band. 'Buckingham/McVie is Fleetwood Mac when Stevie Nicks is not involved at all. I leave you draw your own conclusions as to which albums are a success & why, and which ones aren't so loved & why not.

Lindsey is absolutely the most soulful player I think I've ever heard. Doesn't matter what he singing what he's playing you can always feel everything. I think that's why I'm so drawn to his music it's because it means something unlike most the stuff today. And you can see Lindsey feels what he plays. And he's an absolutely amazing guitarist.

Lindsey B is an amazing artist on his own. I don’t know what happened between them. “Judge not lest you be judged”. I wish LB and Fleetwood Mac well. They are all so very talented. It must be difficult for bands to remain together for so long. Sometimes, people just have to move on. I wish the newest members of Fleetwood Mac peace and lots of fun. Fun is so underrated! God bless all of these amazingly talented people and may they all find peace and joy! No regrets.

Very raw emotions, you can tell he is telling Fleetwood Mac where to stick it. Stupid move by the Mac. Musical integrity always wins in the end.
@jimrauh3584

LB is about raw emotion (oft times to unfortunate degree off-stage) always. But in the musical realm as well, he can be a controlling SOB as well. And that rubbed many people the wrong way, rightfully so. I love the man artistically but do not admire the man one iota for his lack of interpersonal skills (understatement to say the least).
