I would say take some of the Lily Pads out but not all. Fish like to stay cool and hide underneath them. I would say it's just a maintenance issue. Get rid of some and still save some. It's a 1/2 & 1/2 maintenance situation. 👍😊👍

Our neighbors had peacocks who cruised the neighborhood every day. I loved hearing the communications as they moved through the forest. My husband didn't like that they decorated his truck. We also have a flock of wild turkeys that do the same, and the herd of deer. Lol. Nice neighbors!

Cool, wild animal footage. I heard Betty’s chick, too. Those aren’t mean moms, they are being protective! Water lilies are good for pond life, just not too much to overpower and choke a pond. Had a farm pond for thirty years. Just pull out some each year… I used a rake. Take care of yourself. 🥰💕❤️👍👍

Water lilies are good for the pond as long as they don't overtake 50% the pond. Which means to pull some of the water lilies.

Lily pads offer many benefits to pond ecosystems. As we mentioned, their large leaves provide shade and protection for fish from the hot sun and predators. The roots of water lilies also help to keep ponds clean by absorbing excess nutrients that would otherwise lead to excessive algae growth.

Enjoyed the video. It was fun to see all those animals that you didn't realize were on your property. I looked around at stuff on youtube, and there may be 3 different kinds of burrowing owls in your general area. It's hard to identify without getting a clear photo of them. So good luck, every step you have taken is one step closer to your owl identification..... keep going.

Seeing the groundhog was so cool! I saw of lot of them during my childhood when I was in Austria a lot. Brought back a handful of beautiful memories. I wouldn't be too concerned about the owls. There's a pair of brown owls that's regularly nesting in an old oaktree in the neighborhood, and sometimes you won't see or hear them for months inbetween breeding seasons. Oh my, that Banty! Little but fierce! 😆 I agree on the lily pads - they are beneficial, as long as they don't take over your pond. So maybe just try to keep them restricted to one area. You and your family have a wonderful Sunday!

Just came from Sean's website. He said to ask about brewing root beer from the sassafras roots that you came across the other day. It's a great idea to teach at the camp. I learned from you what a sassafras tree looked like, how to identify the leaf, and how to harvest the root. All that in 5 minutes. It will be good for the attendees to learn. I am not in favor of cattle prods, but you might want to consider, as a temporary measure, its use for these persistent goats who like to thieve on the dog's food. Once or twice then just show them the spark when they get close.

You had quite an assortment of animals coming up to the traps. They all looked mighty healthy. That was the biggest squirrel I have ever seen. Hopefully the owls will be back. All the farm animals look like they're doing good. That hen sure didn't like you around her chicks. Let us know if you make the root beer. GOD BLESS Y'ALL.

That Squirrel was late to the party.😅 You could put the small trap inside of a big wire dog kennel ( the one you put Cora in to take her to the vet) so the wildlife doesn't mess with the small trap. With the dog kennel doors closed the rats/mice will still be able to get through to the smaller trap. Loved seeing all of the wildlife. Wow,that mama hen didn't want any pics/videos of her baby. 😅

I say don't remove the lily pads all together, just thin them down to about a third of what's there already. Do that every year or two and that should keep your pond good and healthy.
