Most enjoyable conversation yet i think. Wasnt a fan of bobby before this as he always seems like a standoffish kinda guy but after hearing his story and the banter back and forth on here and in the gym videos im definitely a fan of his now.

I think we should remember Big Z did 4 reps on the 205kg Austrian Oak which is a wooden log and said he did 6 reps at 205kg on a wooden log in training. Even forgetting the training lift it's safe to say he could've matched his max lift on a wooden log at his very best before he got injured.

Nice to hear more from Bobby Thompson. I agree that world records might be a little overhyped lately. I would prefer that athletes focus mainly on contest performance and if world records fall within that show, it's just a nice bonus.

Always enjoy these podcasts. Would be very interested to hear from a competitor that wasn't naturally gifted. The story is always that they were good at sports as a kid, always big, deadlifted 300kg the first time they entered a gym etc. Just wondered if there was anyone in the open weight class who didn't have that or is it basically just a prerequisite?
@bamstrongfitness112 жыл бұрын
Kearney would be a good one for this.

Every pro Strongman is pure talent and raw ability. Not to say they weren't competitive or had a low work ethic, but as soon as you're able to get a pro card, you've already proven that you're built different. There are plenty of amateur Strongman that are also gifted but don't have the drive or time to push that envelope. Everybody that has a name on Shaw's podcast is gifted and talented to the enth degree. No average Joe is getting in here.
@A-A-RonDavis24702 жыл бұрын
@@bamstrongfitness11 Kearney is supremely naturally gifted, ain't no doubt about that. You don't get to the world level at 5'10" 285 lbs unless you're something different.
