OK…. IN all my golf instructions over the last 6 plus months of playing golf regularly….. This is the first back swing tip that addresses my problem completely! LOL! At 66 I am enjoying the game so much ! LOL! Weather permitting, I can’t wait 2 try this on the range between my 2:15pm tee time today ! Thanks

Perfect. Have been looking for a video on this for ages. I have this exact problem. I knew it looked wrong when I filmed myself but I didn't know how it was supposed to move and how to fix what I was doing wrong. Thanks so much.

Thank you so much. I am a beginner golfer, in my 60's, and have watched literately hundreds of golf lessons on u tube, and at last I have someone who can explain the correct rotation. I had been rotating incorrectly all the time and could not understand why it wasn't working for me. Can wait to get out and try this new approach. Thanks again. Eileen

Like Pete, this is the missing piece. All the erring compensations you mention I have done. I implemented this knee move in a 9 hole practice last evening, complemented by your ‘correct take away’ video, and it led to pure contact, more distance and the most pars ever. I can confidently say now that my handicap WILL be coming down! 🥃 Thank you! (25.7)

Really great and simple thought. Especially for someone like myself that struggles with proper tight side load. Ty

I've been working hard on my swing all summer. A few surgeries (left knee replacement, hernia) moved me away from the game that I am addicted to. Before my surgeries, 75 was a bad score and my best scores all time were 67 and 68. All summer, if you could play a recording or me whining, my swing has felt "disconnected." After watching just a few of your instructional videos, my swing is again feeling "connected." My distance and accuracy are increasing daily. One of my playing partners today said it looks like I have a 3/4 back swing, as I hit my drive 240 yards down the middle all day, some 60 yards past him (I'm 64 years old). I am confident that I will be shooting around even par in the near future and, hopefully, breaking par for the first time since 2018. Thank you for giving me back the game I love.

Wow. I was always taught to move my knee to or past the ball. Doing this I’ve had a continual battle against swaying. I’ll give your tip a go and report back.

What about the downswing - should the left knee be bent or straight at the moment of impact?
@petewhitfield89593 жыл бұрын
Thank you Russell, this is the missing piece of the puzzle for me. Have always thought I should be bending the knee forward to get more rotation and got frustrated when I still move forward and didn’t understandTried the knee as suggested and have never hit it better and lower body stays back.

Great video Russell, just found your channel, this is my swing I hit the ground before the ball and struggle with distance.

Realize that I'm a bit of an all-together-swinger. Great stuff. Think this also sometimes causes instability and too much lateral movement. Thanks for sharing.

Have to say that I believe most top pros move the left knee towards the ball in the backswing rather than to right and inward. I have see instructions that forward is the correct way - right back and left forward

What about the split stance position Lead leg forward Trail leg back.good for balance and coordination. Stops swaying off the ball. Thanks again Russell. Regards Stuart.

Felt like this made a huge difference today. I recently focused on not early extending but bringing the left knee too far forwards brought me off balance and inhibited full turn.

Awesome

Agree 100%. Some coaches have gone too far with the backswing rotation.

thank you for explaining why the lead knee collapses ...I am someone who moves my lead knee excessively over that bucket ... is there any drill you can recommend, that will help me " feel " the correct knee action in the take-away?...thanks much

I'm really tight/inflexible in my hips/legs after half a life of playing football with non existent stretching. Should I just let my bsckswing be as long as I am capable of without letting my knee coming forward and work on my flexibility or shall I let my left knee/leg come forward so I can turn more?

Great vid. My right leg naturally straightens up a bit on my backswing. Is that wrong?

If you can feel an activation in the right glute then you’ll be fine
@hansidelk66043 жыл бұрын
and if you let the left knee forward instead of inwards, you have to work harder to open the hip in the downswing right?

what if you lift you leg like the old time golfers? like Jones. it seems functional.

I was also told to flare my feet so that hip rotation is easier. That puts my knee almost straight out. Do you recommend this flaring?
@russellheritagegolf3 жыл бұрын
You can flare, I’ll be doing more videos on this subject upcoming

Watch tour players. They do almost the opposite of what you’re saying. You get way too far behind it and on the outside of the right foot doing it your way. Trust me I know I did your way for years.

You must think your audience is super flexible 20 something’s. That knee has to go out some if you want a full turn with no sway.
