I think one of the best messages in this video from Russ, which might get lost is to keep the focus on the back of the ball.

Russ, the index switch greatly increased my club head speed. I think expanding on this switch is a really good lesson in itself. TY

Loving the fact you use putter grip re left index finger. Just shows there are so many ways to play golf! I tried that before, it felt really comfortable but didn't seem right as nobody advocated it til now

I really appreciated you saying that a too shallow swing will cause you trouble. I have been working on shallowing my irons and so I have carried that over to the bunker and have found that I am hitting way behind the ball as a result. This really helped me understand that I need to be steeper in the bunkers. Thank you!

Why does the shaft need to lean slightly forward
@rexxengineering83333 күн бұрын
Shaft lean helps you strike the ball more in the center of the face. Without it, the ground is in the way and you will hit lower on the face. But shaft lean delofts the face so slower swing speed players who don’t have as much backspin don’t want too much shaft lean or you won’t launch the ball high enough in the air.

I find my trail hand needs to be a little more turned over to avoid the club face being open and slicing long irons. Thoughts?
@richyclubsport51553 күн бұрын
Personally I think there's no one grip for all, I was mid handicap golfer for years until I had an online lesson with Mike Malaska, first thing he said get grip as strong as possible, I now play with a slight draw on everything and low single digits, and hit the ball way further than I used to with a more natural grip, I only weaken it if I need to fade the ball intentionally.

Take 25 yards of each of your figures and you have my game in a nutshell. Aged 65, 6’3” tall. Good levers, crap ability. But fair play to me - I still have the same skill as I did when I first started at aged 12….

Great video Russ and thx to the gentleman for allowing yourself to be recorded for the lesson. This hip extension move allows us to build up stored momentum for the turn, and our trial arm helping to lift the club those couple extra inches higher does the same for the arms, for the start of the full downswing acts like a catapult, which gives us that effortless power and speed. 💪 Thx again Russ

This is a really great way to explain how to compress, one of the best I've seen in KZbin. I do lots of the same things you talk about ad I usually just hold the club with 2 fingers of my right hand to achieve what you do with an open hand. Great video!

I do this with irons and driver. Issue with driver is I just don’t get enough distance. Irons also sacrifice distance but increase consistency massively. Is this something I should continue doing with driver?

Super helpful, this is exactly what I’ve been struggling with. My brain tells me to fill my hands if I have too much side bend. So I’ll either hit the ground first due to be being handsy at slot phase of swing, over hook the ball, or leave an open face drive out right.
