Baradul: Kills = 2 Assists = 9 Total Damage = 519 Match Score = 525 Corvin Dallas: Kills = 2 Assists = 8 Total Damage = 511 Match Score = 395 So can we clearly see the advantage of having an AMS via the end Match Score. For 1 more Assist and a whopping 8 more Damage, Bara gained 130 total points. So not a bad way for someone to boost their Match Scores if they're not always around the top damage dealers. Thanks Bara and that second game just worked out to make a great example for AMS and if it's worth it or not...

It also comes down how many flanking, protected Light, hit and run, etc. achievements were earned through the match.

Honestly same. Got 500+ missiles just following around the Assaults and it almost doubled my normal gameplay score

Just want to open with a thank you Baradul!!! I'm brand new to playing the game and decided that making the closest I can to this mech will be my first mech. It isn't nearly as effective because I can't get the exact torso or arms BUT have been having a blast learning how to stick with the team while playing this mech. In the 5 or so games I played there was one that stuck out. The frozen city map there was 10 min straight up brawl that I almost couldn't cool down my mech. When I was finally taken out I destroyed 2,200 missiles!!! It felt so good to be able to help my team while still learning to aim, positioning, keep moving, etc. Thank you so much for the inspiration to find a mech quickly that I love.

A good tip to improve on ths build would be to grab the Left ECM arm and throw the ECM there instead of double dipping on the lightly armored right arm. That way you can lose either, but not both at once, which means you'll still be largely useful lategame where you might have lost an arm or a torso by then.

I may be odd, but I like mixing the AMS types. So after the ammo increase I'd go 2x standard AMS with 1 ton of ammo plus one LAMS. That way you don't overheat that much, have a nice early game anti-missile burst, don't waste too much tons on ammo, and never completely run out of AMS.

Just tried it, couldn't use the hero but HML, 2 LRM 10s and 3 L/AMS works fine. No heat and 550 missiles shot down, great build again Baradul 👏

I run mine with only 4 med lasers, a light active probe and 6 extra HS. I took a little less in the firepower tree, AMS overload only, took max cool run and heat containment, everything in sensors but advanced zoom and target info 2, 2 coolshots, a UAV and an arty strike. I know, pure support build for PUG's. Sometimes it works really well.

I have two Kit Foxes: My 6 SRM6 build, and my "hard mode" purifier, which is 3 clams, ecm, 3 flamers and 4 hmg. My friend wanted to try them both out, and found that putting the defense arm on the SRM build worked best for him.

That's KFX I use a lot! I started using it because I hate the LRM, but I find it works as a very good support. And it's usually in the middle of the game that my right arm blows up and I get sad.

Respectable amount of missile kills considering neither match was really lrm heavy. Laser ams might actually be viable now :D The frustrations of a murderball, it's hard to find a position within the ball. Ever moving and always hungry for damage and kills. Nice games for a little aul kitfox. Thanks Bara.

Hopefully more people will start using LAMS... Its a great counter for the big LRM boats people hate. The heat scaling seems much better here were its actually viable.

Sad part is, I pretty much had this mech built pre-patch and reconfigured it about a week before said patch was announced because no matter what, whenever I dropped with it *noone* on the enemy team would be using missiles of any kind. In the rare instances you can evade my luck with it, and swap one of the ER medium's for a TAG, that thing makes an awesome general support mech that can scout, spot, obviously provide ECM and AMS support, counter ECM and stealth armors and has just enough speed to let you be either part of the light packs or a second line support.

They buffed AMS ammo at the same time, so I'm still inclined to just stick with normal AMS unless it's a ballistic/missile build that can easily spare the heat.

@@colincanada I figured it out. The clan mechs, the ones that are purchase able at least, can splice parts together on one mech from the other mechs. You can actually get alot more then 5 lasers.

I'm new to the game and I'm having trouble understanding the differences between the mech variants, especially for clan mechs due to the omnipod thing. Is this build only possible with the hero version? It seems the KFX-C would be the correct option otherwise since it has bonuses to energy and ams but I'm nervous to buy it without knowing if it can actually pull this support role off.

You probably either figured this out or forgot about it, but for anyone else reading: The hero mech gives you the 4 high mounted energy hardpoints in the shoulders. The support version will be slightly improved by taking the regular version with the set of 8 for AMS, but you miss out on the great shoulder hardpoints. If you want the shoulders and AMS you can't get any set of 8, so might as well use the hero CT for 30% extra C-bills too.

What baffles me the most about heat management on mechs is that shouldn’t the weapons be disabled due to overheat instead of the mech itself shutting down? Just saying.

No, you can deliberately overheat and trade the roll of the dice for more damage

There are other sources of heat aside from weapons: AMS, movement, external sources (flamers, lava, outside air temperature), using jump jets. Mech cooling system is centralized so it overheats as a whole.

I kitted out my Corsair 7A with 4 LAMS (and 2 AC10s, 4 MLs), and it runs so cool it's not funny. Yeah they're IS LAMS, but the light show they provide is still quite pretty...

The first game was a disaster. The enemy Fafnir almost had more damage than two lances worth of friendly mechs. The lights and mediums were the only ones that had any success, but they simply didn't have enough sustain to face the metal coming at them. Between the Nightstar, the Catapults, and the Orion, the heavies and assault mechs in general performed poorly. As someone who played a fair bit of MW4 and might play MWO if I can wrap my head around the meta, does anyone have any insight on why they did so badly.

Luck, skill and probably builds. Fafnir is a better mech than a Nightstar, but the latter is not a complete waste and is able to do well. Catapults and Orions are good mechs. Fafnir pilot name looked familiar and I checked the stats. So, here Fafnir pilot is a top-tier player (more skilled than Bara, for instance) and Nightstar pilot is below average. In MWO one top tier player can turn 60+% of its games into wins. And in SoloQ there are usually 0-2 top-tier dudes (top 500) per game 2-3 good experienced pilots (like Baradul) and the rest are average and below average. So the match result is usually detemined by good and top player distribution. In a duel average player has almost no chances against Baradul and Baradul will 99% lose against guys like Lizzee, Ash or Proton (unless a better player is memeing hard).

Its actually kind of sad that there are Mechs which have all their Variants be inferior to their P2W equivalents aka Hero variants. I wish they actually just made them give more C-Bills (like a lot) and give them the Camos, while having a Cbill variant that has the exact same loadout.

@@ReelSpider Depends on the match. I tend to run out when AMS makes a difference in the match. I.E. 2+ pure LRM builds on the enemy team. Last match I fought on my kitfox? I killed around 2700 missiles for that match. You aren't going to kill that many missiles with 1.5 tons of ammo.
