Really nice stuff. We do this also. One ball reversal immediately puts the defense at a disadvantage. I really like the "guard through" option. We will take a look at that.

Thanks. Guard thru is great when teams rotate to take away that reversal pass, like an aggressive diamond

Is this your team? I like these press breakers.
@MattHackenberg8 ай бұрын
Yes! It’s the only press breaker I’ve used in my coaching career - hasn’t failed me!

@@MattHackenberg I've been looking for one like this it really helps with aggressive teams. We play a aggressive team in travel tournaments with something like this that can be used against them. Thank You!

Does this require any sort of personelle? All Ballhandlers? Any Bigs? Etc

I use ball handlers at the elbows and as the inbounder, and bigs at half court

On the sideline entry, do you find it difficult for the ball side guard to get up the sideline ahead of the ball? I am envisioning that the guard tries to get open and the ball almost goes over his head to sideline which would make it difficult for him to basically replace the sideline option. Unless the sideline entry is a specific call and not a read then he can wait and the elbow and break.
@MattHackenberg2 жыл бұрын
Good question… No, if you drill it well. It’s primary option against diamond presses. We call that the “3” entry. It’s cleaner when executed on a call, but can be executed as a reaction if drilled appropriately

@@MattHackenberg I’ll have to see how it works out, I’ve used a similar press break in the past. My other idea would be to sprint the opposite guard through the middle and to the sideline, then sneak the ball side guard in the middle if he’s buried too far behind the 3. Or, 2 to the sideline, inbounded to the middle, ball side guard as the trail

@@fea1990 whichever guard is close makes the first cut all the way to sideline… the other guard goes middle. They may flip flop if they are screening trying to get open. Then they must react quickly once the ball is entered
@fea19902 жыл бұрын
@@MattHackenberg yeah that’s what I may try this year depending the the type of pressure we see. That ways the guard can break to the ball and not worry that he always has to get to the sideline if the ball gets entered to his sideline

@@fea1990 yep first player there goes sideline, second middle has always worked for me

What do you do against a 2-2-1?
@MattHackenberg2 жыл бұрын
Try to primary break through it… If that doesn’t work, down shift into what we call our soft press breaker. We wouldn’t use this concept unless we were being very conservative. Email me if you want the diagrams for how primary break turns into soft press breaker - matth@hackenberg.biz
