Musical GENIUS. Unsung hero for his MASTERING the guitar and for His inspiring uplifting lyrics. And who could forget that voice. I WAS that girl in the bedroom, that picked up the guitar...I had a dream. Rik inspired me to practice and play, and NEVER SURRENDER! Then I had a real bad hand injury at work that left me less than whole handed. But then again, I prayed for guidance just before joining a band, playing lead guitar,, and God had other plans for me But Rik was definitely my biggest musical inspirations. But Jesus is STILL who I follow 🙏

Not only is it ridiculous that he can play this but sing to that level at the same time. Unbelievable

That chord progression is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard. Just WOW. And the cleanliness of the live performance of it at the US festival is just terrifying. What a gift to humanity.

I've always loved this track, especially the version on Stages. That big ringing chord progression at the beginning on the 12 string is the balls.

I have been a Rik Emmett fan since 81-82, when I first heard Triumph. Even named my dog after him back in the early 90's. :) One of the greatest guitarists & vocalists EVER. Simply put, Rik Emmett is a GOD!

As a teen I was into metal and hair bands from motley to rush to slayer to suicidal tendencies etc... I knew every band there was and I knew this guy was special with his playing and singing, you could easely tell this guy knew his chords and guitar theory well hehe I'm 52 and still having a hard time getting the theory down, so sad that I did not see them live before they stopped. But I'm happy to see he still has the passion for playing, that blows my mind.

Rik SPEAKS music. He's the most musical interpreter I've ever heard. What a gift of talent AND knowledge/understanding. If everybody could be as good in their chosen fields--and we all can't be rock stars--what a world it would be.

We've all seen the video of Rik and Steve Morse playing Morse's "Up in the air". An amazing feat for Emmett to accomplish on the fly❗ Even the great Steve Morse does not sing lead while playing lead guitar‼️ Rik Emmett is a phenom❗

I need to meet this guy and have a conversation with him in person before my time is expired. If it wasn't for Frank Zappa Chet Atkins and my favorite of all time Rick Emmett I never would have been the musician I am today.. I owe Rick many thanks for All the triumph albums and cassette tapes I burned through and the hours and hours and hours of hitting the rewind button. One of my biggest regrets in life is never being able to see triumph live!!! Back in the '90s Rick did an acoustic show in my hometown of Milford Michigan. Unfortunately the night of his show I was involved in a horrific car accident and didn't freaking make it..

I remember reading Rik's technique columns in one of the guitar magazines back in the 1980s. Good stuff. And yeah, this is one of my favorite Triumph songs. Nifty "reggae-ish" chord progression in the verse.

I understand pefectly. The guy (Paul Haskins) that tought me how to play, he took lessons from 10 or twelve different instructors. Paul broke it down into how to play any song and write your own music. You have to understand, first.

It amazes me how you make it look so simple. I grab my guitar and try to play it and. Well the key word is Try 🤪. I saw you guys in the early eighties at the Cleveland Coliseum. Foghat opened for you. I had floor seats like 20th row on the aisle When you guys took the stage the first song a fight broke out and all the bouncers moved to the right I grabbed my buddy and took off running for the stage by the time the rest of the crowd realized what was happening my buddy and I made it to the stage had one row of people in front of us and stayed there for the whole show That was also the closest I ever was to a rock band You /Rik were in front of me for the whole show we were singing lay it on the line yes we you were looking right at me and we sang quite a bit of it making eye contact then you threw me your pic I had it all lined up and someone else snaked in and got it Intercepted I was sooo bummed out. Love you guys ❤
