A pursuit of happiness is too often mistaken for pleasure and indulgence. Early American colonists faught for the unaienable rights to life, liberty and property. Indeed, in an absence of a right to private property there can be no happiness. Further, a house is nothing if it is not a home. Too many houses -- too few homes. Whereas the rights to life and liberty are tangible, a right to happiness is a subjective, or relative value. The people must provide evidence they are capable of living in freedom, evidence which is currently lacking. God does not seek "pleasure." God seeks affirmation.

Too simplistic. What if neither. I almost feel that the mistakes from the beginning are caused by disunity. You want to be doing what you are doing but whom you do it for don't lift a finger. Then you have misinformation that messes things up. Or you experiment, and then you made a mistake. It's happened before, but then is cleansed. Idolatry: natanyahu.

In terms of what it means in America, i see it differently. We're given the freedom to pursue happiness, but that is not a law - we are not made to pursue it. I think it was a response to the old "you will own nothing and be happy" type of rule. But, you are not obligated by the country to pursue happiness. You're free to if you want, but you're also free to suffer the consequences of that pursuit. It is through our free will that we excersize obedience to god, if we were forced to obey then how can it be genuine? Isn't that what god wants at the end of the day, to use our free will to willingly and freely choose to obey him?

Indeed,.Americans are very lucky. In many countries, freedom to pursue hapiness, be it Canada or elsewhere the state determines your plight in a caste-like fashion. Knly through state benevolance are you bestowed opportunity. We need more of America and freedom in the world,. More civil liberties and accountability.
