Nov. 28, 2022 💙 Thank you, friend Scotty, I already understand so much more about the Infiniti G35 S. Going to the dealer has felt wrong after they bilked me out of $3.5k+ “for a sunroof assembly plus labor,” but when it needed at most the drain tube(s) cleared. Having discovered the actual guy cleaning the right side drain (behind passenger dashboard) as I had to leave the car there with them over the weekend. The Infiniti needs another oil change at a good mechanic’s place. My back won’t permit me to get under the car, drat it. Also, it’s almost 58k miles, and changing the tranny fluid & filter might be a thoughtful move, as long as it doesn’t yet have wear on the parts that could cause slipping with hee transmission fluid. Very thankful for YOU! Have a great day! Sincerely, K.H. in So. CA. 🌲🌿🕊😂⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It only left me stranded twice ! 1st tims it was cuz of the alternator at 280k miles was told it was the original And 2nd time was when the torque converter gave out at 350k I also had a problem with the abs and VRC and stability control lights were all on at the same time..and they would go on/off randomly but car didn’t run any different..the dealer said I needed a new computer and wanted $1,800 I said I’ll live with the lights on…lol Then one day they turned off and never came back on..after being on/off for 4 months .. I own a Toyota Matrix 2007 with the 1.8 liter 4 cylinder engine with over 212,000 miles on it. I had always changed the engine oil every 3,000 miles with a few times at or over 3,500 miles. At about 200,000 miles I changed to fully synthetic oil from Costco. Now, I am aiming at 8,000 miles per oil change. When I changed to fully synthetic oil I was aware I could have hand leaks. But, there were / are no engine oil leaks even after 200,000 miles. I am shocked to see how much this Matrix runs like it is / was a new vehicle for me. We live near a very busy freeway on the way to Los Angeles. Once on that highway traffic moves at near or very close to 80 mph. The Matrix still has no issues stepping up to near or at about 80 mph very fast. I just replaced my 2nd exhaust sensor 1 upstream oxygen sensor with free shipping from eBay. For under $30 it works very well. I was at our local Costco about 10 days ago and there was a fellow in the parking lot with another Matrix about the same year 2007 as mine. I went up to him and told him I owned a 2007 Matrix. I asked about his Matrix? He told me the Matrix in front of us had only about 55,000 miles on it and he had just bought it used from a lady in Montana. He paid about 2 times the blue book price for this very lightly used Matrix. He told me his other Matrix did not operate with over 360,000 miles on it. He told me it failed to run because there was water or some other material in the gas tank. He loved the Matrix so much he found and bought this one with 55,000 miles on it in Montana. He told me that he opened the gas tank and the gasoline appeared to be contaminated and unusable.

I've found rust actually does the most damage on the front & rear subframes rather than the frame or in the case of a unibody construction, the undercarriage. Worst part is, you can't really apply any rustproofing to those areas because many of the working and moving parts are attached to them.

I will drive it then sell it. That is me. In 2000 I bought a 99 Corolla as a commuter because my Tahoe was killing me in gas. Meh, I drive it until it starts costing money to keep it running. It is currently at 199,000 miles and other than tires and maintenance all it has ever needed was an alternator at 150,000 and a set of plug wires. After I foolishly used a self serve car wash pressure washer to clean the engine. Even then it was only because at 101,000 it ran really crappy before the dealer told me don't flood the spark plug holes again. The dealer mechanics I asked said that most of the major repairs they see are transmissions. But only because most people forget to do the fluid change/ maintenance on them.

Hey Scotty or anyone with the 2009-2010 1.8L Toyota Engine, can anyone recommend how to fix the known issue of a cold start rattle in the 1.8L's? My 2010 Vibe makes a nasty rattle on cold start only. I've read the intake VVT-i gear takes a sec to build enough oil pressure to lock the gear for normal operating mode. I'm curious if anyone has got this issue fixed permanently, the only solution I've seen is to stretch the VVT-i locking spring to reduce the amount of oil pressure needs to lock. This seems like a temp fix as the spring will wear again. Any advice is welcome, thanks!

Scotty, thanks for all the great information and advice on the Toyota Matrix. I have the 1.8 liter 2007 toyota matrix it may have less power but works for me. I can get near or over 37 mpg on the interstate. Got to love that fuel economy in California with near $5 gasoline. In southern california we don't need all wheel drive 2 wheel drive does just fine in the sunshine and dry roads. Our gasoline is now nearing $4.5 a gallon. Who says Saudi Ariabia is our ally and friend?
@setsunasetsuna93422 жыл бұрын
Because most of the gas California gets doesn't come from Saudi Arabia. California has higher restrictions when it comes to gasoline, if I'm not mistaken most of your gasoline comes from Canada but don't quote me on that.
@wendyphillips50022 жыл бұрын
@@setsunasetsuna9342 I would not be surprised if none of our oil or gasoline in California comes from Saudi Arabia. The cost of oil relates to the world wide pool of oil available to sell and deliver. Those barrels of oil in Saudi Arabia being cut back in October by 2 million barrels per day drastically raised the price of oil by the barrel immediately. I believe our gasoline prices shot into and above $6 a gallon very rapidly in October. Now, just after the early November election our gasoline is nearing the low $4 range and dropping. It is those marginal barrels of oil that control the price of oil. Those 2 million Saudi barrels raised the cost of oil drastically. Why did Saudi Arabia so drastically cut back production and raise the cost of oil just before our November election?

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving in the United States. Mr. Kilmer, what are your opinions on a 2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT hatchback coupe with the 3.8 L V6 engine and the five-speed automatic transmission with sport mode, a 2012 Hyundai Veracruz Limited AWD mid-size crossover with the 3.8 L V6 engine and the six-speed automatic transmission with manual-shift capability and a 2015 Infiniti Q50 AWD compact or mid-size sedan with the 3.7 L V6 engine and the seven-speed automatic transmission with manual-shift capability? I heard that the Eclipse with the V6 and the Veracruz are great vehicles in reliability, but the Q50 could be a lot more reliable. For starters, it is most likely the Veracruz crossover or the Eclipse coupe. For experienced drivers, the newer Infiniti model will be the best option, which is the Q50 with AWD sedan. I hope you have any additional answers, sooner or later. Thank you very much.

Why is it that the O2 sensors (and associated electronics) before and after the cats don't go bad frequently with all the road salt being splashed on them?

The sensors are on the inside part from where the sensor screws into the exhaust system So the more delicate parts of the 02 sensor only get exposed to exhaust from the engine
