Been here since the beginning. I know what people mean when they say " hope you do more projects." We have gotten to know you and it's kinda like your family. Since they do not share much of their time with other people, the lack of conversation with others makes him to start creating a new vocabulary, that's the importance we don't realise in the day by day of having interactions with people. But I simply love watching them, I've been around here since the beginning and I must confess that 15' - 20' is not enough, and the wait is too long...

I've mentioned this once before, but Spencer didn't address it in the video: You should take the toilets off of the rainwater system and run a pipe down to the lake and use either a demand pump (or alternatively an elevated tank with a float switch to a pump) to fill the toilet tanks (after running through a filter to keep the water clean). You can save quite a bit of water this way. We actually did this with sea water when I lived off-grid, and had valves so that we could move the toilets back onto the rainwater tanks in the rainy season and switch over to sea water in the dry season. It wasn't ideal because the sea water was harsh on the rubber seals and would corrode any metal parts in the tank but it was better than running out of fresh water. None of that should be an issue with pond water though. This will save you many more hundreds of gallons then collecting A/C condensate (which is still a good idea, though)

Wow! John, This is s thoughtful reply and suggestion. I hope they read ypur comment and respond. People like you who have "lived off the grid" are very amazing, intelligent and precious to me. I look forward to the day Jesus comes back and sets up His kingdom then we'll all be "living off the grid" of this fallen world. We've all sinned and need a Savior! We have to believe He took the penalty of death that we deserved and rose again conquering death and hell for our sakes. When we invite Him into our hearts, we have eternal life forever. Jesus was a carpenter, He came to build His home in us with His amazing Love!!! We can spend our lives here on earth working so hard but what matters most is what we choose for eternity. John, I hope you know this truth. I'm sharing it in Love!

I love the idea of leaving yourself a message. When my parents built their home in the mid-70s. My father put pennies and baby food jars life magazines inside the walls. Our contractor stapled a current newspaper on the wall behind a kitchen cabinet. My parents are gone and the home has been sold. But the new owners have discovered some of these things remodeling and I still live in the neighborhood so it's been a fun memory Lane walk.

Before I nailed in the 3/4 “ tongue and groove floors in our living room I wrote a message on the plywood. It was the year after 9-11 and we were hosting a couple of exchange students that year. When I remodeled my turn of the century farm house I too discovered old history. A carpenter signed a interior wall dated (1936) and name. The family prior to wall papering had twin toddler’s. Marked their height, names and children drawings on the wall. Hated to cover the old history but plaster walls were cracked and needed repair. Took pictures of it.

We've built our own home and put a bottle of homemade wine from blackberries on the property, in a foundation block under the dining room picture window ! Also, before we got the trim on the inside doorway of said dining room, we were measuring our children's height during those years and now we put our GrandGirls heights on the trim over their parents". Who knew I'd mark up my trim ???😜

Binge watched your entire journey to complete your home. I admire you both! I have also learned a lot as I was considering getting 3 - 53' containers and building myself. 1. No chance I have the strength and ability to do such a great job myself. 2. I understand how important having both the correct number of solar panels and a large battery capacity if I want to have enough power to not depend on the grid. 3. We get such a small amount of annual precipitation I could never collect enough rain water to survive. 4. Living where it snows, putting a pot bellied stove in a central area appears to be quite necessary to augment electric heat in the winter. Thank you so very much for sharing and I wish you all the best. You are wonderful people, your children are blessed to have such great, motivated parents. God bless! Mary

Great progress! Gutter the barn, it could have been done in the beginning, even one side only, with IBC for cheap storage. The whole place looks stunning. Also, have a portable pump for "borrowing" water from the pond, you could run it thru a sand filter then your house filter in a dire situation. Just a suggestion.

That porch area looks so good, Spencer does his own woodworking skills on how it looks, let me tell you, that couldn't look better. Especially after the master painter and stainer got to work on it. Your children are so delightful to watch, you must be proud parents.

Love the porch. Thought you would have installed motion sensing light to keep critters away. Oh Beau reaction to the fairy lights so sweet. Cam crawling up the steps. Both growing up so fast. Praying for everyone to get some rain. We are so hot and dry in N Texas also. Beautiful job as usual you two.

I just wanted to let you know that alleviate and relieve are two separate words. There is no relieviate. I know some of these snarks will try to be rude to you about it so trying to save you some meanness. I love your show and I'm so thrilled that you've almost finished the house. Can't wait to see what you come up with next.
