I have 8 parrots all but one are flighted and that one isn't is due to a disability. All of them want to fly. They get the zoomies and fly around the room just to have fun. I have friends with birds and they do this as well. My Sunday Conure even got PTSD from having her wings clipped as a baby. (We did not clip her the breeder did) She was so depressed until her new feathers grew in allowing her to fly again. She was so happy to fly again, pure joy. So I agree with you the other commenter knows nothing about birds. Also I agree with you on birds not being kept in a cage all the time. In fact I find it cruel to keep them locked up, all the time.

Me out here with my legal name as Lauren Smith and highly agreeing that it is not unique enough 😭 Also for shoe etiquette, if you ask someone to remove their shoes you’re supposed to offer them house shoes. Its not something people typically do, but it’s one of those Emily Post things

I had a goldfish growing up who loved getting belly rubs! Like actually! 😂 whenever someone would walk by her tank she would swim up to the front and start moving all around to get your attention. If you walked over and stuck your hand in the water she would swim through your fingers a few times and then she would flip upside down wanting you to rub her belly with your finger. If you didn't do it she would get angry and would splash water, tear up her plants, find a way to unhook her filter. Like, she loved her life and she absolutely loved us. We had a bioactive aquarium. She had friends. We would feed them actually food like minnows, blood worms, krill. Not just fish flakes. I loved all my fish but axl rose (rosy) was definitely my favorite and had the most personality. I also had an algae eater. His name was odie. He was a present to my grandparents when i wad born. (I lived with my grandparents from 6 months old onward so i call odie my pet lol. But anyways uhm my grandparents got him as a little one inch baby. We shared the same birth month and year. Their life span is typically 15 years. And they grow to about 2 feet typically. Well he passed away at the age of 29 and was roughly 5 1/2 feet long! We had a 180 gallon tank that was 6 feet long and there were only a few inches on either side of him length wise. We were actually in the process of getting a bigger tank when he passed away. But i loved him so much! He was such a spoiled brat! Hehe he would get fed fresh fruits, vegetables, worms, shrimp.... so spoiled! And he actually loved to be held lol if you stuck your hands down in the tank at night, he would swim up and get into your hands and hang out. Sometimes he would suck on your hand and other times he would roll around in your hands rubbing his body against them lol people say fish, reptiles, arachnids dont have personalitys but they do. They really do. When it comes to "exotic" pets (not typical cats and dogs) i feel as though if you are giving them the most absolute natural habitat possible than i believe it's okay to have them as pets. If they do well in captivity, they can be fed their natural diet, have a place to live that is as close to where they actually live as possible then i believe that it's okay to have them. Serpa design is a good person to watch on this (when it comes to reptiles, amphibians, arachnids....) bioactive enclosures are the best thing you can do if you have pets like these. When it comes to birds, since they are highly intelligent i don't believe they should be pets unless like rachel said, they can fly outside and stuff. Birds shouldn't be bought. They should be rescued. Snake discovery is a good one to watch on this. They have a Blue and Gold Macaw named Cheyenne. She was locked in a cage forced to breed. She stress plucked out her feathers to a point of no return and now wears sweaters to keep warm. Her wings aren't clipped but has never learned to fly and is now too scared to. Emily saved her from a world of pain. Yes, she still sleeps in a cage. But they take her everywhere! And she is spoiled beyond belief! That's how i feel "exotic" animals should be treated. ❤

Abby: "Out them for being stupid." Period! That's what's up! Artists (musical) with two last names: Um, wow! My whole family should be FAMOUS! It's actually just a family tradition for the women to retain their maiden name as their middle name once they marry. I did it, my mother did it, both my mother's paternal and maternal grandmothers did it. *shrugs* House shoes: I agree with the Ikea slippers idea. it's actually totally a cultural thing in Japan to have "guest" slippers available because outside shoes are just not allowed.

Tell Abbie to come to the Pacific Northwest in the fall for mushroom foraging. I love it too! I know nothing useful mostly for identification. I learned a little for fun and went so far as to attend a local mushroom show by an organization that knows every detail about it. It’s amazing how many there are here. And book review chat is a whole full podcast or one day a week or month thing you should do. It’s interesting to hear your takes on books and genres. And Abbie you do have a side of you that’s type A. Not in a bad way but in a needing your home environment to be certain way especially kitchen which is your domain and it is for me too so I get it. And same with shoes on furniture. I agree that that’s rude unless someone asks if you prefer shoes off when they come in. Your mom didn’t teach you or you ignored it if you walk in with dirty shoes and shove then on someone’s living room furniture.

I usually read multiple books at a time. Most of them are different genres and my mood determines which one I read at that moment. I’ve tried reading one at a time, but I get a bit bored, even if it’s a good book, and end up starting another one. Some take me longer to finish than others because of the content, but I do finish them all.

Alternatively to vacuuming your entire place, you can try dust mopping. The best way to describe it is like a bigger version of a Swiffer. The one I have is fabric and it’s washable. I use a version at work and I like them. To clean most of the debris off, I’ll flip it over and take a broom to brush it off, or a damp rag works too, then washed

I also gave up on that book series after the first book for much the same reasons. Then I made the mistake of checking out what the following books were about and that put me off even more. On paper, it made it sound like the first book was a waste of my time and any effort I'd made to invest in the relationship was going to be ripped apart anyway. I am not driven to excessive drama for the sake of it so I'm pretty sure what's making it appeal to so many people is exactly something I would hate. lol

I apologize for commenting as I listen lol. To the question that Abby asked about imagination when reading and stuff. Even before I became a blind screen reader user, any sort of audio medium, I do visualize in my mind. Even more so now that I can't see it all, even if I'm just sitting talking to a person either in person or on the phone, I unintentionally create a picture in my head of what that person or whatever I'm listening to whether it be some sort of scene or something. It even happens with other senses, if I'm watching like a KZbin video or any food thing at all not even on KZbin I will imagine the smell and taste of that food also. Like my senses can actually smell or taste it when it's being described. Very interesting to me but yeah lol. A lot of times unfortunately if it's a real person that I'm talking to or I'm watching a movie about or something that's not animated, a lot of times I picture them incorrectly until someone actually describes them. for instance, I know what Rachel looks like because I could still see her videos before my vision went away but since Abby was introduced, I have not been able to see so I have no idea what Abby looks like lol. honestly nobody in Rachel's videos except her family and JoJo have I been able to actually see before. so I have no idea what Rachel's friends that have been introduced in the last year since like 2019 or late 2018. so I am quite sure I have incorrect visuals in my head of all of them lol. I personally am a fan of the small details in books, even when I could actually still read regular text and not just audio forms. Just a matter of preference :-) no right or wrong

as far as ACOTAR goes, the second book DOES get better story wise. tho if you don't like Feyre then you may not like it regardless of the story. idk. i'm on A court of silver flames at the moment edit: i had a hard time in a few parts of the series visualizing the scenes at first but for the most part i was able to visualize and enjoyed imagining what a room or a house looks like in the ACOTAR world. i did have to look up character fanart though to get a better idea of what the characters would look like.

Regarding your house not being clean enough for a "no shoes" I am just going to tell you as someone that has a weird sensory thing with my feet I HATE walking on hardwood barefoot, because of this I automatically go on my tippy toes and I don't even notice it anymore. So maybe since you guys are in CA and probably in sandals way more than other places that could be a thing, just not wanting to walk barefoot on hardwood. Providing some easy/cheap slip-on's would make me SO happy! LOL

See I read Fourth Wing first and did not like it cause of the "basic" straight relationship. I feel like straight people should be offended too. And now I'm im reading ACOTAR and people say it's better. But then I tell them what I don't like about FW and they'll say that ACOTAR is more of that. Urgh. But it's for book club so I i am gonna read it. So maybe you'll like FW better since it's less of ACOTAR. I think Abbie and I feel similar.

ACOTAR (The Book) is not good ACOTAR (The Series) is a good series Books 2 & 3 are the best and so many people don't read them because of the horridness of Book 1

A couple that my mam was friends with once went to Tunisia with one of the girls kid (other girl's step kid) and they had to pretend they weren't together or were sisters. They had lifeguards hitting on them at the hotel anc couldn’t exactly say "sorry, shes my girlfriend / fiancè". Just a thought 🫶😶
